White, Cream & Beige

"It's white!" cried Amelia.

"It's beige!" shouted Zelgadis.

"It's cream-colored!" screamed Lina.

"No, it's beige!"

"No, no! It's definitely cream-colored!"

"He's a follower of justice, so it has to be white!"

"Isn't this rather pointless...?" broke in an amused voice. "How much does it matter what color Zelgadis's clothes are?" Xellos smirked from the place he was floating near them.

All three faces rounded on him in an instant. "Shut up!!" they screamed, shouted, and cried at the same time. Xellos was so surprised, he lost control of his ability to float and crashed to the ground. His eyes widened for a moment before going back to their usual close-eyed cheerfulness.

They turned back to their argument as soon as they saw Xellos was out of the way.

Lina reasoned, "It's slightly darker than white, but it's not dark enough for beige, so it's cream-colored!"

In response, Zelgadis pointed out, "But the store clerk said it was beige, so it has to be beige."

Now it was Amelia's turn. "Mr. Zelgadis, you're a fighter for justice, so the color has to be white! After all, only good guys wear white!" Sweatdrops all around.

Lina and Zelgadis temporarily teamed up to knock some sense into the small princess. Lina expressed angrily, "Just because someone wear's white doesn't mean that at heart they're a good guy! They can be the worst evil in the world and wear white!"

Nodding in agreement, Zelgadis mentioned, "What about Halcyform? He had a pact of immortality with a mazoku, and tried to kill us. He was evil, but he wore white."

"But...but Halcyform was doing it out of a sense of love! And he redeemed himself at the end, so he wasn't evil!" Amelia said desperately, trying to keep her logic intact while they burned holes through it.

"Besides, Amelia, my clothes aren't white; they're beige!" Zelgadis sighed, shaking his head.

"They're cream-colored, you idiot!" Lina said, rounding on him.

"And I still say they're white!" Amelia pouted.

Xellos briefly paused them when he waved his hand in-between their faces, demanding to get their attention.

"What?!" Lina shouted, annoyed.

"I thought I could settle this by giving Zelgadis another set of clothing." In his hands were clothes and a cape that looked just like his old pair, but darker.

"Why should I take something from you?" snorted Zelgadis, crossing his arms.

"Sore wa...himitsu desu!" grinned the trickster priest. (Translation: "That is a secret!")

Zelgadis growled softly, but with one last suspicious glance at Xellos, took the clothes and quickly went into his tent to dress. When he came out, he was wearing the dark version of his original outfit.

"Why did you make it in black?" frowned Zelgadis, looking at Xellos.

Lina blinked, "But I thought it was navy-colored."

Amelia waved her hands and said, "I'd swear it's just a dark gray. Only bad-guys wear black, and he isn't a bad guy, so it has to be dark gray."

"It's black!"

"It's navy-colored!"

"It's dark gray!"

Xellos sighed and shook his head. "I should have seen that coming," he murmured under his breath." Then he smirked and disappeared from the camp.

The three continued to argue through the night, while Gourry snored on, completely oblivious to the fight.
