This is my very first fan fiction. It get's better, I swear! Just give me a chance! Please!!!! Ahem, sorry. Any way, just let you know I am an avid Amelia-Zelgadis/Lina-Gourry fan, so if the thought of any of these couples turn you stomachs then don't read any farther. Also, I don't have any internet access, so I'm sending this via my good friend Tyler (who also edited my story). Any coments would be apretiated. Oh yeah! I almost forgot! I am really, really sorry about the names of the villians. I haven't slept in four days. You try to come up with good names when you haven't slept in four days.
"Ms. Lina, Mr. Gourry!" Amelia runs over and hugs them both tightly.
"Amelia, that's enough!" Lina laughs.
"Thank you so much for coming!" Amelia cries. She was turning eighteen today, her friends were here, and there was a huge whopping cake waiting for her that evening. Nothing could possibly make this day any better. Well, maybe one thing. Lina sees the sudden disappointment in Amelia's sparkling eyes.
"I'm sorry, Amelia, but we couldn't find him." Amelia's head drooped a bit,"But hey, I'm sure he"d come if he"d known!"
Amelia fakes a smile. 'thanks anyway, Ms. Lina!"
"Lina, Gourry! Good to see you again!" bellows Prince Philionel as he burst into the room,"Come to see my darling Amelia become a woman, huh?" He whispers into Lina's ear,"Did you find him?"
Lina shakes her head slightly. "No. I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault." Phil whispers back. "Oh where are my manners?" he cries,"I'm sure you'll want to rest after your trip. I'll have one of the servants show you to your..."
"FOOD!!!" comes the simultaneous cry from Lina and Gourry.
"I thought as much! Very well the kitchens that way." he says, and before the words fully pass his lips Lina and Gourry are gone.
She accepted the gifts with a gleaming smile and a heartfelt thanks. As she opened each wrapped parcel she fiend suprise as she pulled out the usual gifts. Necklaces, rings, all sorts of jewelry, nothing really special.
"I am soooooooooo bored!" she silently mouthed. She had been accepting gifts for hours. Her fingers were cramped from uniting countless ribbons, and her fingers bleed from countless painful papercuts. "I am going to fire ball the next person who flirts with me." she swore to herself silently. Two things kept her smiling that night. One was the image of Lina dragon slaving the whole lot. Second was her hope that Zelgadis would come marching through the doors and into the room to whisk her away.
He never came.
Lina leads the crying princess to her room. "At least she held it in until after most of the guests had left." Lina thought. "Amelia, I'm really sorry he didn't come. I'm sure he"d want to be here." Lina said sympathetically.
"Uh-huh." Amelia said through the tears. Lina pushed the door open to Amelia's room and led her to her bed.
On the pillow was an envelope reading,"Amelia Wil Tesla Sairune." "Uh, Amelia, there's a letter here for you." Lina notes. When Amelia doesn't answer Lina asks,"You want me to read it to you?" Amelia still doesn't answer, so Lina decides to read it anyway. "Dear Amelia, I sincerely apologies for being unable to attend your birthday. I was held up by the guards. I would like you to meet me by the south gate tonight. Signed, Zelgadis Greyword."
Lina looked shocked, and Amelia was bubbling with joy. "He's here!"
Amelia cried at last. "Lina, tell daddy where I went, would you?" Amelia ran towards the door.
"Amelia!?" Lina cries after her.
"What?"
"Have fun!!!"
Amelia smiles warmly,'thanks!"
Zelgadis paced back and forth in front of the south gate. He was obviously nervous. He hadn't seen Amelia in over a year, now. "Does she even want to see me?" he asked himself aloud.
"Of course I want to see you!" cries Amelia from behind him.
"Amelia!" Zelgadis cries. Amelia leaps onto him, wrapping him tightly in her arms. "It's been quite a while." he finally says when Amelia relaxes her embrace enough for him to breathe. Suddenly Amelia withdraws from him.
"You feel...soft!" she states.
Zelgadis begins to laugh, and removes his cowl. He was human again!
"Do you like it?" he laughs.
Amelia reaches out her small hand and runs it over his new face. He was smooth. His features were the same, and he was still very handsome.
"You found your cure!" she cries, wrapping her arms around him once again.
"How?" she asks.
Zelgadis smiles widely,"It's a long story, and one that I don't want to go into right now. So what have you been?"
"Pretty good! I've been doing a lot of important duties around the castle." The two of them launch into a long conversation about the last year. Hours pass by. Zelgadis was deep into telling how he had run into Xellos deep within on of the many catacombs he had explored before he noticed Amelia was snoring on his shoulder.
"Oh well, I"d better get her home." he mutters to himself. Cradling Amelia in his arms he begins to walk towards the castle.
"How sweet." comes a sarcastic voice from behind him. "Our hero carries the fair maiden off to bed." (Yes, I know what he's implying, too.)
Zelgadis turns on his heel. Two men stand before him. One is a huge man wearing sorcerers clothing, and the other is a very short swordsman.
"Who are you?"
"I, the big man begins,"am Frank. And this is my associate, Jo-Jo the Butterfly."
"He's not a butterfly." retorts Zelgadis.
"A technicality. But back to the matter at hand. I believe that you are carrying our key to riches beyond belief. I would ask you to hand her over, but that would lead to you refusing, which would lead to me making some speech. All of this would take up time and make the author have to type more than he really wants to. So just put her down, draw your sword, and we'll get on with this."
Zelgadis nods his consent. He carefully places Amelia on the ground and draws his sword.
Jo-Jo the Butterfly leaps forward, sword in hand. With a deafening crash the two blades rang out. "I'm going to kill you!" screams the bloodthirsty Jo-Jo the Butterfly.
"I don't think so." Zelgadis bites back. "Fire Ball!" he screams.
The flaming sphere hurls Jo-Jo the Butterfly into a nearby tree, splinterin it in half. Frank simply stares at his fallen companion and draws a dagger. With monstrous speed he leaps at Zelgadis. At the last minute he changes the direction of his charge and puts the naked blade to Amelia's throat. Amelia's eyes blink open. "Oh, I'm sorry Zel, I must have dozed off..." she begins. Looking up she sees an unfamiliar man with a dagger to her throat. Needless to say she screams her head off.
"Shut up, witch." he cries at her angrily. "Don't move or I'll kill her!" Frank shouts at Zelgadis,"Drop your sword."
Zelgadis complies with a curse on his lips. Frank begins to laugh as he hauls Amelia to her feet. He inches carefully over to his fallen companion. "Now throw me your money pouch." Zelgadis removes the small pouch from his belt and throws it to the man, swearing violently under his breathe.
"Good, I'll be going now." he smiles. Suddenly Amelia's body jerks violently,"Have fun!" he screams as he pulls his bloody blade from Amelia's back. Turning, the man flees into the night.
"Amelia!" Zelgadis screams as he leaps forward to her fallen form.
"Damn it! No!" He falls to his knees by her side.
Amelia smiles up at him,"Zelgadis..."
"I wonder what's taking them so long?" Gourry wonders aloud.
"Oh, she's probably just out having a good time." Says Lina. Suddenly the door flies open, breaking from it's hinges. Standing in the doorway is a panting Zelgadis. Cradled in his arms is the bloody body of princess Amelia.
"Zel!" Lina cries in suprise.
"Heal her!!!" Zelgadis screams back at her. Ever so gently he places Amelia's unconscious form upon Lina's bed. Taking her hand in his he cries out again,"Please, just heal her!"
Lina kneels next to the bed and places her hands upon Amelia. Her hands glow with blue energy and sweat drops start to form on her forehead. Zelgadis, praying silently, aids with his own power.
"I'll go get Phil!" cries Gourry as he flees from the room.
Prince Phil placed a hand upon Zelgadis's shoulder. The unconscious form of Amelia lay on the bed, unconscious but alive. 'she'll be fine." he assures Zelgadis who only nods. Lina looks down at her ruined sheets. "Great, bye-bye silk sheets. Oh well. So how's it going Zel?" she begins in a futile attempt to spark conversation.
"Let's go, Ms. Lina." Phil demands,"Do you think that you could stay with Amelia, Mr. Zelgadis" At least until she wakes up." he asks with a smile. Zelgadis silently nods.
"Ugh." groans Amelia.
"Amelia?" comes the anxious voice of Zelgadis. Amelia opens her eyes slowly. "How do you feel."
Amelia smiles. "Okay, I guess."
"Amelia...I'm sorry." Zelgadis says, his voice dripping with shame.
"For what?" Amelia asks
"For letting him hurt you." Zelgadis looks at the floor in shame.
"It"s my fault." he thinks, sullenly.
Amelia reaches out and touches Zelgadis's cheek. "Zelgadis?"
"Yes?" asks Zelgadis as he looks up.
"Thank you for saving me." she says with a smile. "If you hadn't been there I would have died."
"If I hadn't asked you to come you wouldn't have been in any danger." he replies sullenly. He gets up,"I should go. Goodbye, Amelia."
"No!" she cries forcefully, flinging her arms around him. "You're not going anywhere! I love you!"
Zelgadis stares down at her hanging to his body and smiles faintly. "Amelia..."
His words are cut short as Amelia turns him around and plants a passionate kiss upon his lips. After a few moments she moves back, still holding Zel tightly. "You're not going anywhere!"
