Chapter Six

A lone figure stood on a balcony. she was backlit by the early morning sun, making her orange hair flame like the feathers of a phoenix. She looked out across the field to her right. It was covered with tents of all shapes and colors. Some were striped, some were orange, some were checked, some were polka dotted, and some were plaid. she sighed. "I wish the others would get their stupid butts out of bed!" she thought. suddenly, her stomach growled. "hmm... maybe I'll just get some food."

By the time the others had gotten themselves out of bed and ready to go, Lindsay was already on her tenth plate, and ordering some more food from the harried waitress.

As the others sat down the waitress thought "Oh God, help me please!!!!" Finally, as the 'normal chaos' of the meal came to an end, Lindsay asked,

"ok, where should we start?"

"Well, shouldn't we wait for Annie to come?" said Samantha.

"Uhh... well, I'm right here, so you don't need to worry!" Annie replied. While the others had been eating she had snuck up behind them. this was a good trick, since the table was round.

"Well, why don't we just go and look at the merchant booths then?" Said Fiona. Everyone else was amenable to this, so they went out.

Unfortunately, It soon became apparent that they would not be able to stay together. Greg wanted to look in the "magical weapons" area, and of course, Samantha wanted to go with Greg. Fiona, was interested in looking at books about dragons and magic to summon beasts, Annie and Zack wanted to look at books about Shamanist and druid magic, and Lindsay wanted to look at everything. Mostly though, she wanted to look at the magical artifacts and grimoires.

"Ok, Ok!" said Fiona. "Why don't we all split up and meet back at the hotel in three or so hours?"

Everyone though that this was a good idea, so they went on their ways.

Lindsay walked for a while, looking at various things. Finally, she picked up an old and dusty tome. It was bound in red leather and was embossed with gold leaf. She rubbed it off. It said "Grimoire and Travel log of Lina Inverse" Lindsay was intrigued. She opened it and started to look it over. on the cover page was a picture of a lady with red eyes and hair as red as her own. "So this is Lina Inverse" Lindsay thought. She was intrigued, and though she knew that it was only the first day of the festival, she knew she had to have it. With a sigh she turned to the man who was the owner of the tent. "How much?" she asked. "one hundred." he said. "whaaat?" she said. "well, I guess I could give it to you for ninety..." he said. "I can't believe it!" thought Lindsay, "it's so cheap!" out loud she said, "ok, mister, here's the ninety, plus another five for being so nice."

The transaction being thus finished, she walked off down the aisle. Finally, she stopped dead in her tracks. "ok, Xavier. You can stop following me now. Just come out and show your face."
