Gourry pushed his way into the clearing, determined. Lina followed a few steps behind, "Gourry? What do you want?"
He lay upon the grass, looking into the stars. Well, not into them exactly, but through them, beyond them, to the place where everyone was right, the place filled with smiles and hapiness, the place filled with nothing but light and oh so fluffy towels. She sat beside him, unsure. He had bid she follow him, but gave no reason.
"Lina," he said, almost to himself, "Have you ever had that perfect moment? The one exact place in time where everything stops, just for a second, and leaves you dazed and happy. That picture but not quite picture that sticks in your mind for the rest of your life? When you remember every scent, every sound, ever colour. And you think about it without thinking about. Beauty given words?"
She had, but decided it best not to tell him what that time was, "Yeah, I suppose everyone has a memory like that. Why?"
The blue orbs slid over to look at her, just for a second, before returning to the stars but not the stars. A night-bird twittered. "I have a moment like that, Lina. D'you remember when I first met you, when you were running ahead of me? You turned, to look back at me. That moment, Lina, everything stopped. The picture of my minds eye is you, Lina. I'm not very good at explaining things, Lina, especially not the things I feel. But..I-I think I love you..."
A sharp intake of breath, and a slow exhale...He had failed. Then, a soft hand on his chest, ruby eyes looking into his own, "Thank you, Gourry. Thank you."
He leaned up to her, and she leaned down. Lips brushed. And that, as they say, was that.
