Nighttime, bandits cheered and clanked mugs of beer to a day well done. They had stolen more money than they had ever before in one day, breaking their old record.
"I can't believe we made it out with so much loot!"
"I know! Hey what's that in the sky?"
Looking up a bluish blur comes down surrounded by fireballs. When the smoke cleared away a tall guy with short blue hair, matching blue eyes and dressed in green and blue with a long black cape, stood.
"Tall, blue hair and eyes, smart with an even smarter tongue, greedy and heartless! Ohmygod it's Leviathan Inverse, The Bandit Killer!"
"That's right and who said I was heartless?!"
Fireballs fly in numerous directions, and like he owns the place, Lev just waltzes over and starts loading up on the bandit's treasure.
"Hey that's our treasure!"
"Not anymore!" Lev chares the place leaving with a large amount of the loot stuffed in a sac.
"Bye, bye! It was nice seeing you all!"
The next day Leviathan walked along a trail hauling his pervious night's prizes when he noticed he was being followed.
"Whoever you are show yourself!"
A man wearing an eye patch emerges from a bush.
"You think that you are pretty tough doing what you did to us yesterday huh?"
"Considering that I was by myself and I still managed to do all that, yeah I do."
"Well you know you killed our boss last night and I was originally going to kill you, you know honor among thief's right? But I've decided not to."
"Well you are smarter than I thought."
"Yeah a strong guy like you would just pick me off in a second. So that's why I was thinking of instead of asking you to join us. With you we could steal 2 maybe 4 times as much loot than we ever could."
Lev doubted the sincerity in his voice. Not like he would join up with a bunch of bandits anyway, but he did notice that whatever was left of the bandit gang was also hiding in the bushes waiting to attack him.
"You know I may steal from bandits, but it would cramp my style to sink to your level you lowlife."
"Lowlife?! I'll show you lowlife! Go get him guys!"
The gang pops out of the bushes ready with swords swinging. Lev was ready himself with his sword and about to engage the battle when he heard a woman's scream. Glancing over to his left behind him Lev saw that by accident a young lady traveler had stumbled on to this little incident. Now those dumb guys wouldn't do anything to an unarmed lady, now would they?
One of the bandits grabbed the women and put a knife up to her throat. I guess they would "Hey let her go she has nothing to so with this!" Leviathan yell charging up a fireball.
"Or you'll do what?" The bandit holding the girl sneered. "You can't even touch or I might hurt this pretty young thing." He laughed and to prove his point he brought the blade dangerously close to the young woman's throat.
"You're right about that, I guess I'll take care of the other guys first." Leviathan said with a smile and proceeded to defeat the rest of the bandits single handedly. The bandit holding the girl decided that if Lev could kill off all of the bandits without giving a damn then what's to say that he might care if the girl got killed? So basically the bandit turned tail and ran.
"Damn you get back here you coward!" Leviathan yelled at the last fleeing bandit. Oh well now let's check out the helpless and grateful damsel that I just saved. Leviathan looked over to the woman. She was dressed in shrine maiden clothes in colors of purples, greens and blues. Her raven colored hair was long and shiny and her emerald green eyes looked clear and sparkly like a priceless gems. She was beautiful even though she was frowning. Wait why is she frowning.
"Are you the reason I almost got killed?!" She asked him in a sharp tone.
"What do you mean I -- "
"Well those bandits were after you so you must have done something to provoke it. So I had a knife put to my neck because you decided to piss off some bandits?!" She said in a very angry tone.
Leviathan just stood there gaping. Wh-what is going on here? She's supposed to be a helpless damsel who should be eternally grateful for me saving her life! Not getting angry at me because she walked in at a bad time! "Hey now you should be grateful that I saved your life!"
"You're the reason why I was put in danger and you want me to be grateful?! Saving my life was only making up for the stupid mistake that you made! What did you do to those bandits anyway? Something stupid like stealing from them?" She dusted herself off and brought her eyes to meet his.
Leviathan on the other hand felt he was being shrunk under her glare. He didn't respond to her because she was right, he did steal from them.
"And what do you think you are some sort of hero? Geeze big ego with very little to show for it." She gave him one last stare before turning her head to walk off.
"Hey wait were do you think you are going?"
"I'm heading over to Atlas City like I was before."
"You're heading over to there all alone?! It's too dangerous."
"I can take care of myself thank you very much."
"Oh that little scene with the bandits back there is proof? Come on you can't go by yourself." Leviathan was a little annoyed at this point. Who the hell does this girl think she is?
"Well I don't know of anyone that could go with me unless you are making the offer to." Of course she didn't say that in such a nice tone.
Leviathan had to admit there, she had a point. "Alright then I'll go with you to Atlas City." Leviathan blinked in disbelief. Why the hell am I doing this anyway? Well I have to admit she is pretty. No but she's annoying. Hmmm... well she'll probably turn the offer down so then I can just leave and go on merry way.
"I don't know if that's a good idea. You'd probably get me into trouble or something."
"What?! I would get you into trouble?!"
"Yeah you've already done it once today. And whose to say that you'd even be good at protecting me? I bet the only thing you can beat up is a couple of hapless bandits."
Okay that got Leviathan very angry. "How dare you even say that! That's it, I'm coming with you whether you like it or not!" Leviathan yelled rather loudly.
"Okay good then let's get a move on then." She said with an extremely sweet smile. Leviathan just grumbled.
"Sylphiel."
"Huh?"
"That's my name. What's yours?"
"Leviathan."
Later on Leviathan and Sylphiel ended up at a town and decided to stop in and have lunch. Now Sylphiel and Lev were on better terms now. Though you could easily tell that Sylphiel was a kind hearted and sweet person, she kept regarding Leviathan with suspicion. Maybe she was just peeved from the whole incident earlier, or maybe she just didn't like Leviathan that much.
In the restaurant Lev boggled the waiters mind with the large amount of food hir order. Sylphiel of course had a normal sized lunch.
"You can't eat all that can you?"
"Why does that seem surprising?"
"Yeah. Man you must be a real pig." She said sipping at her tea. The food arrived and Sylphiel rolled her eyes at Lev's table manners. But then she was expecting just as much. And Lev, like Sylphiel expected ate everything.
"Okay it's confirmed you are a pig."
He glared at her and before he could say anything an old man came rushing over to their table.
"Are you a black mage?" The old man said short of breath.
"Yes and why are you asking?"
"Then tell me are Leviathan Inverse?"
"The one and only."
Sylphiel gasped in shock. "You're Leviathan Inverse?! The bandit killer? The dragon spooker? The big time heartless sorcerer whose a womanizing pervert to boot?"
Leviathan looked at Sylphiel a combination of annoyance and confusion. "Okay I know about the heartless sorcerer and the bandit killer. But what's up with this dragon spooker and pervert stuff?"
The old man cleared his throat. "They call you a womanizing pervert because despite how many girls you hit on no one ever wants to date you and there's rumors that you have done some rather unsuitable things."
"What?!"
"Oh and they call you a dragon spooker because you are one step past sheer revolution that not even a dragon -- "
"Okay that's enough! Damn why do I always get these bad reputations circling around?"
"Maybe because some of it is true." Sylphiel said with a suspicious expression. Leviathan just glared at her.
"Well no matter, tell me did you destroy the dragon fangs?"
"The dragon fangs? You mean that bunch of bandits that I destroyed yesterday and today that had their hideout near here?"
"So you did destroy them? Oh thank you now we can be saved from the terror of the bandit's and their dragon." The old man walked off all happy.
"Um Leviathan did you kill the bandit's dragon?"
"No I didn't know that they even had one."
"So you mean it's just running loose with no one controlling it?!" Sylphiel and Leviathan looked out the window to see the dragon fly by.
A man totally clocked in ivory sat leisurely near a tree waiting for his companion. A rustle in the bushes and another man came out whom was totally wrapped up in bandages from head to toe. All you could see of him was his right eye.
"Who are you?" The ivory clad man asked with his hand on his sword ready to draw.
"Master Zelgadis, it is I, your servant Zolf." Zolf said with a muffled voice.
"Zolf? What happened to you? Did you get what we were looking for?" Zelgadis said relaxing again to look around at the surroundings. They were at a cliff that over looked the town nearby that they dragon fangs had been terrorizing.
"I infiltrated the dragon fangs like you asked me. Only when I was just about to get the item a guy cam in and took it from right under me. The person blew up the whole hideout and took most of the treasure that was there." Zolf said clutching his fists. If I ever get hold of the snotty little brat oh I'm going to --
"Stealing from bandits? Hmm... Zolf do you know who it was?"
"Yes it was that little brat Leviathan Inverse!"
"Oh that makes sense. Things could get quite ugly if he has our item and doesn't want to give it up. I've heard rumors on his power."
"Yeah well he killed more then half of the bandits yesterday and I heard that he killed the rest this morning and now is in the town." Zolf pointed to the town which was being terrorized by the dragon right as we speak only Zelgadis and Zolf were too far away to see it.
"But did he destroy the dragon that the dragon fangs had?"
"No I doubt it meaning it's running amuck. In fact I hear that's in the town right now and Leviathan Inverse is being persuaded to kill it." Just as Zolf had said that there was a gigantic explosion that destroyed the whole town.
"I guess the rumors of his power were true."
"True as they are when I get my hands on that little brat I'm going to make him sorry for what he did to me! Just you wait Leviathan Inverse!"
Leviathan and Sylphiel were currently running away while dogging the various items that the townspeople who were chasing them that they were throwing.
"I can't believe you would cast a dragon slave and destroy the whole town in the process!" Sylphiel screamed at her so-called protector.
"Well using a dragon slave to kill a dragon seemed appropriate. And besides I did save the town."
"But you destroyed it!"
"Yeah but they don't have to be so mad about it."
"Well maybe if you didn't ask for the reward money on top of that then maybe they wouldn't!"
Finally after a while Leviathan and Sylphiel had lost the townspeople who were chasing them.
Sylphiel hadn't said anything to him since they settle down and made camp for the night. Leviathan was going to say something to her after a while but then he noticed that she had already fallen asleep.
Oh well guess I'd better hit the hay as well. As annoying as she is this is only going to be for a few days until we reach Atlas City. Then I can say good bye to her and never see her again. Leviathan grinned as he fell into sleep.
A man watched from a crystal ball as Leviathan went to sleep.
"So you are the one with what I want. Well perhaps Leviathan Inverse you can be a use to me." The man smiled staring down at the image with closed eyes. A blood red aura appeared around him. Rezo the red priest laughed psychopathically.
But unknown to the red priest was that in the shadows a dark creature was watching him intently with a content smile of its' own.
