Sleep Talk

Lina grumbled as she pulled herself out of bed. Outside the window in her room at the inn the sun was shinning, the birds were singing and everything was happy and cheery on this nice and lovely day. Lina wanted to scream.

She wasn't in a good mood that morning. She practically growled at the birds to shut up.

The night before she practically hadn't gotten any sleep at all. The walls in the inn that Lina, Gourry, Amelia, and Zelgadis were at were very thin. So thin that Lina could hear Amelia making her justice speeches in her sleep in the room next to Lina's. And just like when she's awake her justice speeches go on and on.

Lina had tried covering her ears with her pillows to drown out the sound, but it was no good. She tried banging on the wall yelling for Amelia to shut up but that didn't work because Amelia didn't hear her. Then Lina tried pounding on Amelia's door but alas the little justice paladin was still in a deep sleep.

So the whole night Lina tossed and turned in her bed trying to force herself to sleep but she couldn't. Finally though she fell asleep after a long time only to be woken up an hour after she fell asleep by a combination of the noise of other people in the inn, the birds singing and the bright light of the sun shining into her room refusing to dim.

A part of her wanted to just try and go back to sleep despite the noise and everything else but her stomach grumbled in protest. She was far too hungry for her to ignore her stomach.

The people at the kitchen were surprised when they got this large order for only one table at such an early time in the morning.

Meanwhile Lina was grumbling at her table. Her bad mood hadn't left her after she came out of her room. In fact her bad mood had just gotten worse. The first thing she ordered when she sat down at a table was her extremely large breakfast. But now she was annoyed at her waitress. Yesterday the inn had ran out of coffee beans and since they wouldn't be able to get anymore for another two days they wouldn't be serving coffee today. This pissed Lina off because she was so tired and needed coffee to stay awake.

"I'm really sorry Miss, we weren't expecting to run out of coffee yesterday."

"What kind of place doesn't have coffee to serve with breakfast." Lina muttered under breath with a scowl.

After finishing off her breakfast Lina went to venture around the inn. Since she was up so early she was left without much to do because her other traveling companions wouldn't be awake for a while.

There wasn't much to see in the inn. It had the usually things that an inn had. Eating area, bathhouse, rooms and so on. Nothing that Lina hadn't seen before. She tried to sneak her way into the kitchen and was thrown out immediately.

Lina sighed and walked into what appeared to be a lounging room of the inn. There were a few tables, chairs, and fireplace with couch near it. There wasn't anything really interesting in the room, except for the other person in the room. On the couch Zelgadis was sitting with an annoyed look on his face.

"Hey Zel." Lina flopped down on the couch next to him.

"Why are you up so early?" Zelgadis eyed her with suspicion.

"Gee you sound cranky."

"No coffee." Zelgadis said with a monotonous tone of voice.

"Yeah I know." Lina scowled.

"Why would you want coffee for?"

"I got about an hour's worth of sleep last night."

"So you were kept up by Amelia's night time ranting too?" Zelgadis chuckled lightly then rubbed his forehead and yawned.

"Your room was on the other side of Amelia's?"

Zelgadis deftly nodded.

A silence passed by the two. The silence was only interrupted by the occasional yawn.

"I want coffee." Zelgadis whined in a small voice breaking the silence.

Lina chuckled and shock her head. "Serves you right not being able to have any coffee. You drink so much of the damn stuff you probably have it running through your veins." Lina evilly smiled.

Zelgadis narrowed his eyes at Lina while clutching the pillow right next to him and he matched her evil grin and hit her over the head with the pillow.

She glared at him and whapped him with the pillow next to her. Thus the pillow fight began.

Hours later Gourry after eating his breakfast was wandering around the inn. Neither him nor Amelia had any idea where Lina or Zelgadis was so they were going around to see if they find them. Gourry tried really hard to think of where Lina or Zelgadis would be only all Gourry ended up doing was walking around aimlessly. He finally ended up in the lounging room and he was surprised about what he saw. Lina and Zelgadis were lying on the couch, both covered in feathers, and both asleep and entwined in each other's arms.

Gourry shook his head and sighed. Zel is sure going to get fried once Lina wakes up.
