I fell slowly to earth,
Teary eyed,
Crying my pain,
Torn wings colored scarlet by my tears,
The tears of blood,
The blood of those killed,
This war as taken hundreds of lives,
And I was one of those who took those innocent lives,
I held no discrimination,
Man, woman, and child.
How I can I live with myself?
How I can I live with what I have done?
My Lord is there a way I can atone for my sins?
The pain I feel is so great I can hardly stand it,
Is there a way to be forgiven?
Please have mercy Lord,
I am only but a fool.
Yes... A fool asking forgiveness for unforgivable sins.
I'm a fallen angel,
I've lost my halo and my wings are stained and torn.
A brilliant light blinds me,
I shade my eyes so that I may see,
A figure appears before me.
A women with long blonde hair,
And beautiful emerald eyes.
I suddenly recognize her,
And I call out to her as she reaches for me.
Mother! Mother... is it really you?
She answers with a nod.
I receive a hug when I reach her,
I return it with a hug of my own.
We stay that way for what seems hours,
Then I ask her... that one question.
Why are you here?
She looks at me with that calm, kind look,
A smile upon her face that I haven't seen since that fateful day,
The day she passed away.
Her heavenly voice answers in a soft whisper,
You've been atone for you crimes,
The Lord has seen you suffer long enough from the pain,
You've been forgiven.
A soft smile appears on my face when I've realized what she's said,
I feel the guilt and pain I've felt fad slowly away,
And the past seems a faint memory.
