"Those orphans looked so happy Miss Lina!!"
The gang made their way to through a small port city by the Mississippi River. Lina headed the group with her head hung downwards. She shuffled her feet as she walked along the cobblestone streets. The sun shone down brightly on the little town. Birds chirped their annoying little songs (at least that's the way Lina saw it), and everything was right with the world. .............. Well almost everything.
"Lina I really think your over-reacting," Zel said next to Lina. Lina looked at him blankly and continued to trudge onward.
"I still can't believe Amelia got Lina to give all that money to those orphans," Goury said. He rubbing his chin thoughtfully. Lina made some kind of non-committal groan.
"They looked so happy!!," Amelia said with sparkling eyes. Lina rubbed her temples.
"Doesn't it feel so much better to help people rather than blow them up Lina?", Amelia asked.
"You give someone a break and they'll break you Amelia. I've been on the road for awhile and there's one thing I've learned; nice guys finish last", Lina replied. Her eyes glazed over for a short second.
"I don't believe you Lina," Amelia said looking Lina in the eye, "A little kindness comes back to someone ten fold. You do something nice for someone and something nice happens to you in return." Lina snorted.
"The day that happens is the day I eat my hat Am - " Lina abruptly bumped into someone.
Lina lost her footed and fell backwards on her backside. A sharp pain jolted through her body. She looked up; her ruby eyes flashing ready for a fight. Instead she found a small little old man. He had a hood over his face. He was crouched down and groping for his cane. Lina tried to push down her guilt as she got to her feet.
"Um...err.... are you like ok?," Lina asked the little old man awkwardly. The little man finally retrieved his cane and looked up at the group.
"Did my old ears hear correctly?? Your the kind souls that helped the orphanage??", the little old man said softly.
"Well I guess," Lina said uncertainly a blush creeping over the bridge of her nose. "Here, take these." The old man pulled something from under his robe and pressed it into Lina's hand. She looked down surprised. It was two slips of paper. Lina turned them over. Her eyes widened in surprise.
"These are Riverboat tickets!!", Lina exclaimed.
"Yes", the man said softly, "I had originally bought them for me and my wife, but sadly she passed away recently." The man's eyes glazed over sadly. "It was to be our 50th Anniversary present."
"But.....we can't take these, Amelia started.
"Wow these are great!!" Lina exclaimed drowning out Amelia's protests.
"See Amelia what did I tell you!! There are still some decent people in the world."
"But....but...I said that!!"
"Don't be petty Amelia," Lina chided her. Amelia quietly seethed.
"Hey where did that little old man go?", Zel asked looking around.
"Huh?", the group eloquently replied. They glanced around. The old man was nowhere in site. In fact, it was like he was never there.
"I suppose he left. I didn't even get the chance to thank him," Amelia stated sadly. Lina dismissed the regret with a wave of her hand.
"Oh well whatever. Now what do we do about these tickets? There are only two..", Lina told the group while waving the tickets in the air.
"Well only two of us can go the other two will have to go cargo like we previously planned."
"Well we know I have to go. Could a beautiful delicate face like this go cargo,?" Lina replied. She struck an innocent young maiden pose complete with the huge watery eyes.
".........."
"Ok so we know Lina's going cargo," Zel replied marking her off his list.
"Hey!!"
"Um...," Goury broke in to the conversation, "Maybe their buy one get one free tickets??" Everyone mass sweatdropped.
"Goury that's the most ridiculous thing I have ever - " Zel snatched the tickets from Lina's hand.
"Buy one Omission," Zel read the ticket out loud," on the luxury Riverboat Elmekia and get one free."
FACEFAULT
"See? I told you so!!"
"....................................."
A little old man stood on a rooftop in the distance. He gazed at our heroes secretly. His hood shrouded his face. He idly twiddled his cane between his fingers. His quarry strode away unawares that they were being watched.
"This is excellent, everything is working out just as I had planned." A snarled hand came up to the hood and raises just a bit. Barely visibly underneath two purple slitted eyes glinted in the light.
Ok I have decided to make all episodes from this point shorter. It took me too long to finish them before. This way you'll get episodes a lot quicker (and are less likley to forget about the fic).
