Konnichiwa Minna... Here's another heart breaker for all you Amelia and Zelgadis fan's. Sniff. The song is Iris By John Reznik, sung by the ever so nifty Goo Goo Doll's. ^_^. I'd like to thank Abra~Chan for helping me with this fic. Sorry it's so short! Enjoy. ^^...
Amelia brushed her finger's across the smooth surface of the glass window, as she peered outside gazing lovingly upon a certain chimera, who occupied himself by sipping from a steaming cup of tea. He sat along with Lina and Gourry, surrounding the bonfire that illuminated the area around them. Amelia blinked upon his calm features. She sighed heavily, causing the window to fog up. She whisked her finger's across the chilly surface. Clearing her view.
...And I'd give up forever to touch you...
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow...
"Hey Zel, I'm heading off to bed, don't stay up too late!"
Zelgadis blinked to the petite sorceress. She yawned and brushed the dirt from her bottom. She tugged on Gourry's Arm helping him up to his feet.
"Night, Lina."
He responded, nodding softly.
"C'mon Gourry, if your coming with me tomorrow we have to get some sleep... Off to new adventure's, food, treasure!"
Lina chuckled as she trotted of to the inn, still rambling on. Gourry sighed and followed after, turning and waving out to Zel cheerfully.
"G'night Zel!"
Zel nodded again and leaned back, enjoying the quiet atmosphere. Another adventure was over. Tomorrow by early light, they would part way's once again...and go down separate path's. Except Lina and Gourry, as fate would have it, they would continue to travel together. Though of course Lina was convinced it was because Gourry had the Sword of Light, and she would continue to stick with him until she possessed it. Everyone else knew it was because Lina developed feeling's for the swordsman. And he for her. Tomorrow Zelgadis would continue to search for his cure, and Amelia would return to her duties as Princess to the Kingdom of Saillune.
...You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be...
and I don't want to go home right now...
Amelia seized the opportunity and retreated from her post at the window. She nervously walked through the wooden chamber's of the Inn and found herself rigid and motion less behind the man she had come to see. Zelgadis blinked, his ear's picking up the scruffle of bare feet against the moist earth. He turned, his eye's meeting a pair of glimmering big blue eye's. He turned back around and continued to gaze into the fire. Amelia regained herself and swallowed. She picked up her courage and continued to walk. She sat in the soft dirt, staining her night gown no doubt. She patted the ground a few times. Sitting only a few feet from his settle figure.
...And all I can taste is this moment...
And all I can breathe is your life...
And sooner or later it's over...
I just don't wanna miss you tonight...
Amelia twisted the corner of her nightgown in her small, nimble hand's. She nibbled at her lip nervously, the silence between them was eerie. Zelgadis rose the mug to his lip's sipping quietly as he took it from his mouth and slid his finger around the top.
"Can't sleep?"
He asked, keeping his eye's to the steaming liquid.
"Yeah... What about you, what are you still doing up?"
Amelia perked up, as the silence vanished. Hearing his voice ring in her ear's like the chirp's from morning dove's in the dawn. Zelgadis set the cup down and turned his eye's to her.
"I'm not tired..."
"Oh... So...what will you be doing after tomorrow?"
Amelia asked, knowing the answer, dreading it... but making conversation never the less.
"Looking for my cure...of course. And you? Ready to take on the responsibilities as Princess again?"
Amelia looked down, shifting her feet in the dirt.
"I-I..Don't have that option."
She said gently. Zelgadis felt a part of himself open up and feel for her.
"What...? Not up to the royal act?"
He said, teasingly. Amelia sighed against the tear's that threatened to spill over her waxen cheek's.
"I rather go on and travel with Lina...and you..."
Zelgadis cleared his throat and looked into the sky. The fire cracked and popped, the only thing's to be heard in such a long pause. He knew that thing's were in an awkward state at the moment. It was doubtingly that they wouldn't see each other any time soon after tomorrow. He wondered if perhaps he let the Princess grow on him, through the year's. He seemed to be dreading tomorrow. Which wasn't like himself at all. His eye's searched among the star's that brightly lt the night sky. The breeze picked up and rustled his clothing. Amelia tucked her knee's against her chest, pulling her arm's around her self as she shuddered. Zelgadis pulled his cowl down and removed his cape. He passed it along, offering it to Amelia. She nodded in thanks and wrapped it around her body, taking in the sent of his body. She sighed dreamily, and held it to her tightly. Zelgadis blinked at the blush that spread across her nose bridge. Feeling his own heart beat speed up he looked away and winced. Letting someone get to him, how foolish could he be? It's not is if she could care...for a monster. Not for him.
...And I don't want the world to see me...
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand.
When everything's made to be broken...
I just want you to know who I am...
"Oh look...!"
Zelgadis snapped himself back into reality...blinking at Amelia who giggled in excitement. She pointed up into the starry sky.
"Hm?"
"Right there...you see that really bright star?"
"N-no...where?"
Amelia scooted over to him, closing the gap between their bodies. She smiled and pointed again.
"Right there..."
"I still don't... - "
Zelgadis was cut off by shock when Amelia grasped his hand lightly in her own and pointed into the sky. He felt himself lightly blush as he turned his attention away and blinked to where his finger pointed.
"See?"
"Yes...That's not a star though... that's - "
"Venus! The Goddess of love and beauty!"
"H-hai..."
Zelgadis nodded. Her cheerful smile never wavered from her lip's as she continued to blink up at the glittery dot's of light that danced upon the blackened sky's. She let her arm rest against the ground, still holding onto Zel's slightly trembling hand. Zelgadis bit his lip, feeling Amelia's little hand grasp tighter, yet still gently, around his own hand. His mind continued to run...It wasn't possible for him to love in his condition. Was it? No... it was impossible. Nothing mattered...nothing but finding his cure and returning human. That's all that mattered...He's immune to such feeling's...like the rest of his body...A heart of stone...
...And you can't fight the tear's that ain't coming...
Or the moment of truth in your lie's...
When everything feel's like the movies...
Yah'...you bleed just to know your alive...
Zelgadis sighed and began pulling his hand away from Amelia's. Amelia blushed and let his hand slide from her palm...She turned her head to the side and looked away from him. Feeling ashamed and hurt from his reaction. She didn't care...did she? Zelgadis continued to think. Amelia felt warm tear's sting her eye's, hoping the shadow's hid her face from his view. How could I be so stupid to think he would care...He thinks of me as nothing more than a child...An insolent child... Does he not know how I feel for him... how I ache for his touch... or urn for his word's... How could anybody understand how I feel...?
...And I don't want the world to see me...
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand...
when everything's made to be broken...
I just want you to know who I am...
Amelia gasped softly as silvery trail's of tear's made their way down her cheek's. Zelgadis turned his attention away from the sky and to Amelia, who couldn't help but softly sob. He knew at that moment, that she cared. Perhaps more than he would ever know.
"Amelia..."
He said softly...putting his hand on her shoulder... wincing as she only cried harder... she pressed the palm's of her hand's over her face, and continued to sob. He slightly grasped her shoulder...Only wanting the banishment of her pain.
...And I don't want the world to see me...
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand....
when everything's made to be broken...
I just want you to know who I am...
Amelia turned to face him, and with a tormented whimper of pain, she threw herself into his arm's...sobbing into his chest. Grabbing a fistful of his soft tunic and clenching it between her finger's as she sobbed endless trail's of hot tear's. Zelgadis closed his eye's and let his arm's softly cradle her trembling body.
...And I don't want the world to see me...
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand...
When everything's made to be broken....
I just want you to know who I am...
Without one word between them...He knew the source of her pain...
...I just want you to know who I am....
A love too long un returned...
...I just want you to know who I am...
Far too long not expressed...
...I just want you to know who I am...
"Z-Zelgadis...?"
Amelia began, through her sniffles... Zelgadis slid his hand through her raven lock's, and tightened his hold around her.
"I know...Shhh...I know, Amelia."
...I just want you to know who I am...
