For The Love of Her

Firia sighed again. This was getting pretty ridiculous. Amelia said that she was lucky. Yeah, right. Firia thought. Actually she is lucky. But yet.... The knock came again at the door.

"Okay, okay, I'll open it!" Firia said over the knocking. She reached the knob and opened the door. In front of her stood Xelloss. "What do you want?" she demanded.

"Sore wa himitsu," He answered cheekily. Firia glared at the Mazoku. "Sheesh, can't take a joke, can you?" He replied. "Here, for you," He took out a bouquet of Tulips he was hiding at his back. "Sorry, no roses. Economy crisis," Firia raised her eyebrows but she took the bouquet anyway.

"This is really...." Firia tried to find suitable words for his action. "really...."

"Nice? Sweet?" He supplied.

".....sweet..." She blurt out. Actually she hadn't intended to give him a compliment...

"Ahh.. sweet.. that's me..." Xelloss smiled.

"Yeah, so, what do you want?" Firia asked the bouquet in her hands.

"What makes you think I want anything? Can't I just give - "

"When a Mazoku do this type of things, usually they want something," Firia cut him off. "Let's see... last week you gave me that marvelous vase, and last Monday you gave me a box of the finest Zirconian tea, and today you gave me this," Firia said her eyes pointing to the flowers.

"Aren't you going to invite me in?"

"Forget it," Firia answered as quickly as she could. Suddenly a figure flew down from the sky and landed right in between her and Xelloss. At first Firia couldn't figure the figure as the image was kinda blur, but then she recognize it as -

"Valgarv?" Firia said in disbelief.

"Valgarv," Xelloss said in a sarcastic tone.

Valgarv the baby dragon that Firia used to care for, has grown to a fine green haired fellow. (Okay, so I don't know how to describe him that well). He has the fastest growing rate that Firia has ever known. But it seems as the process has been slowing down. Firia guessed he should be ABOUT her age. But then again, what do she know. Valgarv has moved out of her house saying he wanted to travel and all those sorts. For some reason, Valgarv and Xelloss can't stand each other. I have taught him well... Firia grinned thinking to herself. Actually, she told him about the history of the Mazoku and the Ryuzoku every night before he went to bed when she took care of him. Now it seems that the reason of their rivalry was getting more and more ridiculous.

"Xelloss," Valgarv sneered. Yep, their rivalry is preposterous, alright. Firia sighed quietly. "Firia, hi," Valgarv greeted, smiling. "Long time no see,"

"But we just saw each other two days ago," Firia frowned.

"That's what I say, long time no see," Valgarv presented her with a small, velvet box.

"What are you doing here?" Xelloss asked directly to Valgarv.

"Do you really care?" Valgarv said.

"Sore wa himitsu," Xelloss shot back.

"I'll 'Sore wa himitsu' your @$$@^%#$!!"

"Wah..." Firia's tone stopped the argument. She held up a pearl necklace with her fingers the other hand holding the flowers. "Kire.."

"Kire? Honto ni?" Valgarv said quite happily.

"Hai,"

"Hey, what about my gift?!" Xelloss asked quite so jealously.

"But you shouldn't spend this much money to buy anything this expensive," she said.

"Okay," he said as he took the necklace back.

"No!" Firia said as snatched the necklace away from Valgarv. "Thank you,"

"Nah, it was nothing," Valgarv said sheepishly. Actually he practically had to blast the whole jewelry shop off in flames so that he could get a high discount on that necklace.

"Ehem?" Xelloss coughed a little to get their attention.

"Oh, yours are nice too," Firia replied wanting to roll her eyes. Okay, so this is getting a bit out of hand. She thought. This is what Lina calls a 'mere' crush. And Amelia calls it 'love'. cringe. Like anyone would go out with a Mazoku and go out with someone who's practically their son!

"What are you thinking?" both of them asked.

"Uhhh... nothing..." Firia said flushed.

"So, I was wondering if you could join me for... tea," Xelloss said bowing.

"What?" Firia said in disbelief.

"What?!!" Valgarv said, shocked.

"What?" Xelloss said, confused. "What's your problem ryuzoku?"

"Who are you talking to?" Firia asked, her hands on her hips.

"Him," Xelloss said pointing his thumbs towards Valgarv.

"Gee, thanks," Valgarv said rolling his eyes.

"Tea? That sounds wonderful!" Firia said excitedly. She frowned. Wonderful? I must be outta my mind to say that to him!! And then it struck her. Uh-oh... Firia thought nervously. "Why don't you join us, Valgarv?" She blurts out. NANI?!! What is she saying?!

Me, Xelloss and Valgarv? What a great combination. (sarcastically). She could tell by the looks on Xelloss's and Valgarv's faces that they too were just as in disbelief as she is.

"Umm..let me review this.." Xelloss replied walking around. "You want to have tea with me, Valgarv altogether?" Xelloss said frowning but still look cute with it. "That's a surprise,"

"Especially the part with you and Xelloss in a sentence," Valgarv mumbled.

"It would be more surprising if there were your name and Valgarv's name in a whole paragraph!"

"Ha..ha.. ." Valgarv laughed sarcastically. "I wonder who the hell gave you the name Trickster Priest. So far, I'm not certain that names suits you. Nay, I AM CERTAIN that the name doesn't suit you,"

"As I suspected, Ancient Dragons has the worst sense of humor," Xelloss answered rubbing his chin and still grinning. "Oh, well, I guess you'll just have to take the good with the bad,"

"Watch it, Mazoku, I'm a dragon too," Firia reprimanded. He just gave her that killer smile. Automatically, for some reason she smiled back.

"Kanpai!!" they toasted. Xelloss brought them to Zirconia for tea. Firia' the only one who drank tea, while Xelloss and Valgarv ordered wine.

"Something wrong?" Firia asked.

"What makes you say that?" He replied quite so nervously.

"Nothing," She sighed. "Wow, I'd never thought the 3 of us could have tea like this!"

"So, how's your pottery business?" Xelloss asked.

"Huh?" Firia said raising an eyebrow. "Actually it is just fine, if you must know. A lot of customers really love the pottery and I - "

"How's Jirasu?" Valgarv asked taking Firia's focus away from Xelloss.

"He's fine. He's been helping me a lot," Firia explained.

"And how's - "

"Do you want more tea?" Xelloss interrupted Valgarv. Valgarv glared at him. Xelloss glared back. Firia looked between the two and didn't say anything.

"Okay," Firia answered and held the cup while Xelloss and Valgarv fought over the teapot. This is childish. Firia rolled her eyes. She grabbed the teapot between them and pour for herself.

"Why are you both behaving like this," She snapped and drink her tea. "Can't you two just settle this for once?"

Valgarv and Xelloss are still tossing each other angry looks. Xelloss then grinned.

"You know.. Firia's right," Xelloss replied.

"Firia's always right," Valgarv piped in.

"We should settle this once and for all," Xelloss said as he leaned over to Valgarv.

"For once, you are right," Valgarv grinned as he narrowed his eyes.

"Phew.. Am I glad you both are giving a chance - " Firia began.

"Outside. Now. We'll battle to the death," Xelloss said. Firia face faulted.

"Oh, Do I ever agree with you on this one," Valgarv said as he shook Xelloss's hand.

"When I said settle your differences.. I didn't mean battle to death!" Firia exclaimed. "This is no way to - "

"Firia, have you forgotten what he has done to our kind?" Valgarv cut her off as he points to a no - expression Xelloss.

"Yes, but - "

"If not now, then when?" Valgarv asked her. Firia was loss for words. He leaned over and kissed her softly on her cheek.

"Valgarv..."

"What are you waiting for?" Xelloss asked Valgarv.

"I'm going to enjoy killing you," Valgarv sneered. Xelloss toss his head back and laughed.

"Me too," Xelloss glared at him.

"Idiots!!" Firia suddenly screamed. "Why are you both being so stubborn!! Killing each other won't solve a thing!!" She yelled over to them.

"It will." Xelloss answered. "It will," He repeated.

"Damn male egos!!" She said frustrated, near to tears. Xelloss went o her and brushed his lips against her cheeks.

"I shall see you very soon," he whispered.

"Xelloss! What are you waiting for?!" Valgarv repeated his words.

Xelloss walked over to Valgarv and began his attack. Valgarv leaped in the air and send a red beam towards Xelloss, which he managed to duck it. Xelloss pointed his fingers and a flash of twirling light came forth and flew to Valgarv. Valgarv disappeared and the light exploded in the mid air. Xelloss turn around to see where his enemy is. Valgarv suddenly appeared behind Xelloss and hit him on the back. Xelloss fell with a thump on the ground. He stood up and grinned with no sign of pain in him.

"Xelloss..." Firia, who was watching in fear was frozen. What is she to do? Screamed for help? Everyone has left. Get help? What? What?! Unexpectedly, she saw a very familiar caped figure. But will he help?

"Zelgadiss!!"

"Impressive," Xelloss sneered as he blocks another one of Valgarv's attacks.

"I do think so too," Valgarv agreed. Valgarv took the opportunity to hurl a fireball towards Xelloss. Xelloss tried to dodge the blue fireball but too late, it has already injured his left arm pretty badly. Yet he did not screamed in pain nor did he showed any expression on his grinning face. Holding his staff on the other hand, he quickly moved to another further away place to heal himself. From that distance he could hear Valgarv's laughter. Valgarv fires another flaming blue fireball but this time, Xelloss managed to avoid it and bolted straight towards Valgarv. Xelloss threw a bolt of lightning towards Valgarv. Valgarv barely made it.. but he did.. and Xelloss hit him with his staff and Valgarv plunged onto the ground.

"Valgarv!!" Firia's eyes widen in fear that he's dead. But Valgarv stood up, brushed off the dirt on his clothes, and flew back up.

"Oh, boy... this is serious," Zelgadiss commented as the two fought again.

"Of course it is!" She screamed into his ear. "What are we going to do?" She clunged into him afraid of what she might see next.

"I guess there's one thing to do.." Zelgadiss trailed off.

"What is it?" Firia asked as she looked up the battle. When she turned to Zelgadiss, he was waving a 'Go Valgarv! Kick that Mazoku in the ***' banner. Firia knocked him on the head. Hard.

Valgarv wiped of the blood that was oozing from his lips. Damn that Mazoku. Xelloss grinned as he waved his staff. Valgarv looked down to Firia and felt like..like.. he lost his enthusiasm to fight for her. Like he was fighting for another reason. What reason? He wondered. Valgarv lunged towards Xelloss with a green flame on his hands. He released the green flames through Xelloss but then Xelloss suddenly disappeared.

But Valgarv could see flashes coming towards him knowing it was Xelloss dashing to him in a lighting fast speed.

"Where's Xelloss?" Firia asked, worried. Zelgadiss gave her a weird look.

"All of a sudden you develop a likeness for him?" He asked curiously. Firia glared at Zelgadiss. "Ummm.. Xelloss is speeding towards Valgarv in a very fast speed. That's why you can't see him. But you can see his shadows," Zelgadiss explained as he pointed towards the mid air.

"Why do they have to fight?" Firia wondered sadly. "It doesn't matter who wins.. one is bound to be gone..." Zelgadiss glanced over to her and couldn't help but feel pity for the dragon. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders assuring her that it's all going to be alright. (Even though he hoped that Valgarv would win)

Valgarv.. who was badly beaten, didn't have the strength to do anything. Blood was everywhere. The long line of blood on his cheeks was made by Xelloss's sharp object, the blood from his lips was when he fell to the ground, and his arms have a streak of cut. While that Mazoku healed himself everytime he was injured. Valgarv didn't know any magic to healed deep scars. Xelloss waved his staff and a massive wind whirled over to Valgarv. Valgarv's eyes widen as the whirling wind came towards him. He clutched his aching stomach and prepared himself for the worse. He could feel the wind blowing, his hair whipping his face, closed his eyes, as he feels it coming closer, and closer...

"Valgarv!! Xelloss!!" Firia shouted. Zelgadiss could feel his drops of sweat trickling down his face and for once he felt intimidated by the Mazoku's powers. Firia was uncontrollable. After all who would just stand there and let their 'son' be killed? Zelgadiss grabbed Firia before she lunges above to stop them.

"Noooo!!!"

The next thing Valgarv knew was when he opened his eyes it was looking straight to a purple one. Xelloss?

He stared into that eyes. Never he had seen such glossy eyes, eyes that seemed to prick his heart whenever they looked into his. Once he thought that maybe she was the one. The fair skin, the long blond hair, the spark in her when she gets mad. Basically he finds it a turn on for someone who doesn't give a heck about him, someone who's a challenge. Lina, Firia, possibly Amelia but darn it she's too young and Zel would probably kill him. But this? Never.

"Ssshh.." Xelloss shushed him as he tried to say something. Xelloss performed his healing spell on Valgarv. Valgarv felt better and.. safe.. like he was reborn.. again.

"Xelloss?" Xelloss looked in his eyes asking a 'what?'. "Thank you," He replied. "Thanks you,"

"I'm.. well.. sorry," Xelloss grinned sheepishly. Why didn't he realized this before?

All this time fighting over Firia was... actually fighting over him. "Valgarv.."

They both smiled at each other as they realized that.

"Zel? Where are they?" Firia asked, blinking her eyes. They've disappeared from her eyes as the wind stopped. Actually she had clunged to Zel because she doesn't want to see Valgarv suffer and Zel was choking her.

"I have no idea," Zel lied. Actually he saw everything. He saw Xelloss leaped and saved Valgarv before the attack even reached him. He saw Xelloss carried Valgarv off to the other side of the hills. But should he tell?

"sigh.. I knew it... I knew it..." Firia muttered. Zelgadiss looked over her 'what are you talking about?' was written all over his face. "I knew they had feelings for each other.. I could see it, Zel," Firia smiled weakly. "They ran away with each other, ne?"

"Firia..." Zelgadiss managed to say.

"I just want someone to love.. is that too much to ask for?" She sighed as she looked to the falling sun.

No... it isn't... Zelgadiss answered silently. No... it isn't.
