Part 12

Zel swung pationately and gutted his imaginary foe with his blade. he smiled, pleased with himself, and whiped his sweat covered brow. He leaned on his sword as he rested from his extreme workout. becoming a swordsman was a lot of hard work and intence training, but he loved ever agonising minute of it. He could feel his young weakened body tightening and becoming stronger. He now stood tall, with shoulders back, not slouching, eyes bright, not bored, and a smile on his handsome face. Of course he still hadn't aquired the courage to notify his great grandfather rezo about his sudden career change, but then he hadn't gotten around to dealing with a lot of stressfull things. Such as staying in little Amelia's company for more than five seconds and asking Lina out on a date. He was a chicken-livered coward, but he was working on it.

"Hey Zel, how's training?" a heavenly voice intruded, and a surprised Zelgadis leaned to hardon his blade and fell over.

He dashed back up onto his feet as quickly as he fell and grined gourry-like. "Hi Lina! I.. its fine! Good! great even! Eh heh, how're you!"

"As well as can be expected.' lina replied sitting on a nearby stup and inviting him over. An invitation he gladly accepted.

Sitting snugly next to his crush object, Zel couldn't help the rosey blush that stained his cheeks. "So.. nothing new with our devine mission?" he asked, breaking the silence.

"Nope. Seems they had a set timeline that got shot all to hell when Phibby up and got bored. They said we might as well play it by ear." Lina answered, "not that it really matters."

"Oh? I thought your purpose here was to help save the world?" Zel said, his confusion tainting his words.

"no. Silly! Zel, I'm here for You!" she told him laughingly and causing his cheeks to flame even further. "I'm Your guardian arch-angel, after all. The whole quest is really god's cheep way of trying to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak."

"Then, there's no reason for my being here? I have.. no... purpose." Zel sighed.

"NONSENCE!" she spat before he could start up on his slef pity party. "there are plenty of reasons for your being here! Like for one, getting some fresh air and excersie which you desperately needed. And, Look At You! You're training to be what you've always dreamed of being! A sorcerer swordsman!"

Zel smiled at her. "true. What can i say, thanks to you i'm.." he paused, fully registering just how 'close' together they were.

"Happy?" Lina concluded before noticing the very same thing.

A faint pinkness tinted across their noses as they seemed to lean a little closer. As their faces neared, their eyelids dimmed, their breaths mingled as shy virgin lips opened as if in antisipation of meeting each other for the first time, the romantic mood was shattered.

With a surprised cry, Zel found himslef kissing the dirt instead of the lovely Lina. She, on the other heand was suprised to find herself nose to nose with the violet haired, Xellos metallium.

"Hello luv!"

"FIREBALL!!!" lina spazzed, frying off his tell tale smirk in mere moments.

"Oh.. hi Lina." Xellos muttered.

Zel groaned and sat up from where Xellos had pushed him. Lina quickly went to his side to tend his bleeding nose and bruised pride. Val's cheeky snort of laughter was cut short by a glare from his boss. Another dead end. Xellos sighed and dusted himself off.

"So why the hell are you here Xellos!" Lina growled, as a pleasantly embarrassed Zelgadis rested against her busom.

"Why dearest sister-in-law.."

"EX!" Lina shouted.

"Whatever! I'm searching for my beloved wife..'

"EX!" Lina shouted again.

"QUIT IT! Anyway.. I'm looking for Liny. Have you seen her?" he finaly finished.

"maybe."

"That's Not Helpfull!"

"GooD!"

"FATHER!!!"

"huh?" four faces turned as one to wach young Phibbrizo race over to join them, followed by a bouncey Amelia and her peeved angel, Filia.

"Oh this is going to get much worse before it gets any better." Zel moaned.

Back at the Gabriel Residence, Liny sat applying her finishing touches when a dark creepy feeling cralwed up her spine. "Oh I don't like this."

"Don't like what?" Dynast asked.

"This feeling I just got. Like somthing bad is about to happen." she answered.

"oh? Like?"

"Like.. my ex showing up to do God knows what." Liny sighed as dynast rubbed her shoulders.

"Hmm, problematic." he stated.

"Why?"

"You know why." Dynast breathed, "I'm a dark lord, a powerfull one, but he is.."

"The Big Kahuna."

"Ye-ah. So it seems the chapter of our love affair comes to a close... liny." he smiled sadly.

"Friends then?" Liny asked, hopefully.

"Sure. Friends. Good bye Liny."

"Bye.. Dynast." she whispered as he walked out the door for good. "Looks like i'm single again. Wonder what that bastard want anyway." she mused and continued to get ready.
