Part 3: When a Whole Lotta Fights, a Few Conversations, and One Annoying Attack Occur

Everyone was confused. Here they were, two people claiming to rescue Amelia. Well, actually, one claim to rescue Amelia, the other just had to come along. The one claiming to be Jeffery of the Mailstar Family, kept going on and on about the evildoers just had to be kept tied up, so to shut Jeffery up, Lina told him she will take care of the 'evildoers' herself. After that was clear, Lina tied Gourry, Zel, and Xelloss up, but loose enough to get out of it themselves.

"Just agree with him. Just to keep him shut up." Lina told the guys, who was now tied up near the entrance to the main hall. "Don't worry, it's loose enough for you guys to get out."

"Would you mind telling me what the heck is going on?" Zel asked.

"Let's just say that we're going back to where we came from. That green haired boy is Amelia's betroth and my pupil, and that guy with the black armor Gourry just fought is Golda, Jeffery's bodyguard, I suppose. Now me and Amelia are going back to Sairoon and after that me and Sylphiel are going back to the Inverse estate." Lina sighed, taking a seat near the guys. "I don't know what will happen to you guys, though. Don't worry, Amelia will clear you up, since she doesn't think you guys are bad. Too bad, I thought I'd be having a longer vacation."

"Oh, my love. Please tell me if you are hurt." Jeffery said to Amelia, who was trying not to gag. She gave Lina the Please-Help-Me look. Lina just smiled the Sorry-Can't-Help smile. Amelia continued to sulk, trying to keep it undercover.

"Poor Amelia, having to marry that weakling pupil of mine. Heh, oh well. Can't interfere with a Princess' betroth now can I?" Lina shrugged.

"Well, you are his master aren't you? Can't you do anything to help her?" Gourry asked.

"Nope. He may be may pupil, but he is also a Princess' betroth. If you he did something that was dealing with his training, then I could do something. Until then, I can't do anything." Lina answered.

"At least get her out of his grasp for one minute." Zel suggested.

"Oh, alright!" Lina said as she turned to Amelia, whose now being embraced by Jeffery. "Hey Jeffery! Go practice your sword with Golda! I know you haven't been training since I went away!"

Jeffery cringed and hesitantly let go Amelia, whispering something in her ears and went out of view. Amelia tried not to gag as Jeffery ran out of sight and went over to where Lina and the group was.

"Phew. Thanks Ms. Lina!" Amelia smiled, relief that Jeffery's at least somewhere else now.

"No problem. Well, I guess we have to go back now, huh?" Lina said spacing out.

"Yeah. I don't want to go back, though. It's fun being with you guys." Amelia gestured to Zel, Gourry, and Xelloss. "I mean, it's fun attacking other pirates and taking their treasure and stuff! I wish I didn't have to marry Jeffery and go with you guys."

Lina sighed and smiled. "If you like doing this, you should try huntin' down bandits. First, they'll be laughing at how stupid you are walking alone in the forest then after you show them what little you have to do to stop them, they scream out in terror, begging for mercy." Lina laughed.

"I wish I was once a street kid." Amelia sighed.

"Huh? Be a street kid? A princess wanting to be a street kid? Are you alright, Amelia?" Lina asked mildly. She thought all princesses would love the castle even more once they heard how her street life was like.

"Yes I am alright!" Amelia snapped. "Think about it, Ms. Lina! You don't really like being a Lady, right?! Well, try being a Princess! It's not that easy!"

"I thought it's because I wasn't born and bred like you were. I thought you'd be use to livin' like this." Lina said.

"Well, I was born and bred in the castle but -- "

"Oh Amelia dear! I have finished my training with Golda! Come with me and -- "

"What do you mean you're finished training?! That was barely ten minutes!" Lina shouted which made Jeffery cringed.

"Well, Golda said that I was at best already. And that I should now wait for your commands." Jeffery said, which made Lina fumed silently.

"Okay, what about your fighting skills?" Lina asked.

"Did that."

"You sure you're ready to stop training?"

"Yep."

"Then could you fight me and win?" Lina asked, which she already knew the answer.

"Yea -- what? Fight you?!"

"Yep." Lina had to smile. "Make you a deal: watch me and Zel here, fight then I'll fight you. If you win you could stop training, if I win you have to keep on training and ... " Lina thought about something and smiled. " ... and you cannot marry Amelia until you could beat me! Deal?"

"I -- what?! -- no way!" Jeffery exclaimed, but knowing his Master, he'll have to do it.

"Oh well, then I'll report to Prince Phil that you do not have a true heart for Princess Amelia. What a shame." Lina said, sounding disappointed.

Jeffery gasped. "No! You can't do that, master! Alright, it's a deal!"

Lina smiled and looked at Amelia for confirmation. "Alright with you Princess?"

Amelia smiled a BIG smile knowing Jeffery can never beat Lina. "Oh sure. I too would like to test his strength of will." Amelia suppressed some giggle.

"Alright then, Zel, would you mind having another battle with me? You know, a demonstration for my pupil here." Lina asked as she untie the knot around Zel.

Zel grunted. "Fine. Whatever."

"That's a good sport, Zel!" Lina said, as she took off her robes, revealing the tank-top and shorts.

Somehow, the people on the boat was making a circle around the two fighters. Soon after some warm ups, the two fought with all their might. Zel charged up to Lina who ducked and slammed her fist to his guts. It was a hard blow to the guts, it made Zel stop and grunt. Lina took this opportunity to charge in herself. Zel immediately put up a fighting stance and block Lina's blow to the face and counterattack with an uppercut. She took it like a man (which she isn't) and staggered a little. She then resume to a fighting stance too. Both charge up to each other and slam their fist into their opponents face. Both staggered away and resume to another fighting stance. Xelloss and Gourry winced, Sylphiel shut her eyes, and Amelia watched in awe. Both fighters looked at each other and ... Lina smiled and stood up straight, bowing a little to show that she had lost.

"You win this time, Zel." Blood flow out of Lina's mouth.

"I didn't underestimated you this time, that's why." Zel said kind of feeling guilty for hitting Lina so hard. "Sorry if I hit you so hard."

"Naw, it's 'kay." Lina smiled and went back to the now untied guys and the shocked girls.

"Ms. Lina! Are you alright?! I'll heal it right up if it's hurting!" Sylphiel said in great concern.

"Don't worry about it Sylphiel, it's gonna be okay." Lina smiled for assurance.

"Wow, Ms. Lina! That was so cool!" Amelia squealed.

Lina smiled and turned to Jeffery. "You ready? Fighting or sword?"

"Uh ... s-sword ... " Jeffery replied, unsure now.

"Find, sword it is." Lina said as she turned to Gourry with a cute smile. "Oh, Gourry, I seem to have lost my sword. Can I borrow yours? Please, pretty please?!"

"Uh? But you won't give it back to me! Get someone else's sword!" Gourry said, protecting his sword.

"Aww.. but I was getting so familiar with that sword. Oh well, can't blame a girl for trying." Lina smiled and took a sword from a nearby fellow who was smart enough to give it up. "Thank you."

Lina didn't really put up a stance for this fight, because she knew she'd win. Not that she was putting Jeffery off or anything mind you, it's just that he's not suited for this kind of business and he won't listen to what Lina had to say about it. And if she get chances to say all those mean opinions, his mom would always hit her over the head with a huge mallet. Not that he knows it's his mom, in his view point she would be the 'tourist lady'. How stupid can he be?! No way I'LL ever have MY daughter, if I even get one, marry off to a guy this stupid! Lina thought silently but said nothing. Even if he IS her pupil, she doesn't really like him. He causes too much trouble. It's a good thing Golda was in her stead when she had to get home.

Jeffery took the first attack, swinging the sword futilely around his opponent. Lina sighed and quickly moved behind Jeffery. By then it was too late for Jeffery to do anything, for Lina's blade had whacked him on his head. He fell to his knees and went to sleep early that day. Lina tossed the sword gracefully back to its owner, but then he wasn't paying attention and dropped it.

Well, that was easy enough. Lina thought but said, "Needs more training!!"

"I leave the rest of the case up to you Amelia." Lina went back to the group and sat down.

"Oh thank you, Ms. Lina!!! Thank you! Thank you! You saved my life! Well, this part of life, anyway. Now all I have to do is tell Daddy he's not suited for me and so on and so forth! I'll be free!!!" Amelia shouted out happily. She bounced happily into the kitchen followed by Sylphiel, who now decided to take care of Princess Amelia instead.

Lina sighed. "I wonder if I'll be jot down for this. I didn't really completed my job. Well, better not to think of."

"Hey, what will happen to him?" Gourry asked, jerking his head towards Jeffery. He was now being carried off by Golda into his 'personal room'.

"Heh, probably he will be training harder." Lina shrugged smiling. "If he's determined to marry Amelia, he'll be training harder."

"I don't think he'll ever beat you. What with all you can do anyway." Gourry said.

Lina had a big smiled on her face. "It pays off being an orphan at birth and training hard at a young age."

"There's no reason for you to smile for that. At least I don't think it should be given a smile for it." Zel said. Sure he was turned into a Chimera by his grandfather, but at least he had someone when he was still at a young age. She had no one and still could smile. At least the training at a young age gave it a good part for her life.

Lina shrugged. "I don't really have anything to smile for so I smile at things like this. Hey at least I have a guardian who doesn't really take care of me but still cares about what I do. In my whole life I never had anything I could smile for. " She was talking about something that really hurts saying but she wasn't sad, she was hurt but not sad. "There are better things to do than to feel sorry for yourself. If I have time feeling sorry for myself, I have time feeling very lucky for what I have now."

"And what is it that you have now that you feel very lucky for?" Zel asked, knowing that Lina's words hit the spot but not quite admitting it, not even to himself. He had nothing to feel lucky for.

"I have a guardian, and to me it means having a family, even if it is just one lady taking care of me for whatever reason. I also have Amelia and Sylphiel who at least cares if something happens to me, even if Sylphiel was just ordered to take care of me to prove that she is worthy to go into the Ciepheed Society, or even if Amelia just think I'm the only person whom she could research about how to be a heroine. It's not much, but I do feel lucky for them." Lina explained, smiling.

"Whatever." Zel said, trying not to think about what he had in his life.

"So what will happen next?" Gourry asked.

Lina sighed. "I told you. You'll probably go to the castle with Amelia, and Sylphiel and I will have to go back to the Inverse Estate. After the separation, I don't know what will happen to you ... OR me."

"So that's that? We won't be able to meet up again?" Gourry asked.

"I don't know. We could probably meet again, if you come with Amelia to the Estate. Other than that I don't know." Lina answered.

"Why with Amelia? Can't we just go without her and -- "

"We're under attack!!! Captain! Captain! The opposing ship have crashed into ours!!!" Gourry was cut short on his question when one of the shipmate came running around wildly. Soon enough, the attack was held with ogres and trolls pouring onto the ship.

Everybody was up and fighting in an instance.

Notes

To tell you the truth, I have no idea where the story line is going.

I'm just making it all up as I continue with it
