The spring day was bright and cheery. The sun shone down on a large ginko tree on the property of Harinezumi High. Underneath it, six friends were eating lunch. It should have been a time of peace and serenity.
Unfortunately, there was something hanging over the six that was making them far too subdued...
"I can't take this anymore!" Lindsay said. "Zack, lets go for a walk. I wanna know what's so important, otherwise I'll never be able to eat my lunch in peace! I'll see the rest of you later."
Zack and Lindsay walked down a neatly kept path, through a small copse of trees that was on the property. They went to a bench that was near the end of the path and sat down. They were sitting by a small, gently flowing stream. There were several moments of silence, then Zack spoke. "Lindsay, what the heck did you do this morning?"
Lindsay look at him oddly. "what are you talking about?"
"This morning a few minutes after I saw you come in, I felt a sudden surge of power. I know it had to be you, because you're the only person I know who is powerful enough to channel that much energy and not pass out. So I'm asking you again. What, Did, You, Do?"
"I swear, I didn't do anything..." Lindsay began, then she stopped. "Wait... This Morning I did something weird.... Those idiots in my class started to laugh at me for being late again, and as I went to sit down, I just started getting really angry for no reason... My hands started to make a gesture, but I stopped. I really Don't need to have anymore attention centered on me than I already do. After all.... Some people are starting to suspect me."
"I told you not to get into an argument with that annoying girl Lisa. But noooo.... You just had to correct her on the subject of magic."
"I couldn't help it! She was soooo wrong!"
"I don't care if she was wrong! You shouldn't have said anything!"
"Well, your probably right..... Was that all... I'd like to get back so that I can eat my lunch.... If anything's left. Gregory probably stole it."
"You better not say that too loud. I hear that Annie girl likes to make justice speeches. And since You started the lunch wars..."
"Okay! Okay! I get the point! Can we go now?"
"Yes."
Meanwhile
The gang watched Lindsay And Zack walk down the path. There was a pause And then Gregory grabbed Lindsay's lunch. He stole some sushi from it And then put it back. Annie didn't notice, however, because she was very intent on watching the two walk down the path together. Eventually, after they were out of site, she said "those two are quite good friends aren't they?"
"The best." laughed Samantha. "She was his first friend when he first came here to this school. Bonds like that aren't easily broken."
Annie smiled. "that's cool." she said.
Lindsay And Zack appeared on the path. Slightly subdued but looking less tense than before. Lindsay ran over to the tree And sat down. She picked up her lunch And then yelled "Greg! You ate my sushi!!!!! Prepare to die!"
An amusing scene of attempted pummleings And near escapes ensued. Finally, Lindsay calmed down And the six ate their lunches in contentment.
Stars shone down on the small brick house. Inside a dreamer was restless. A figure shrouded in a golden mist appeared. "Lina, Lina", it said, "I've come to wake You up! You must wake up! Danger is on the way. Lina You have to wake up! You have to remember!"
Lindsay awoke with a start. She couldn't remember what she had been dreaming about, but she knew she'd had the dream before.
" I think It's time to call Zack." she thought. "I bet he'll know what's going on. Too bad he won't have had his pot of coffee yet..."
