How the two of you must hate me.
Not that I blame you,
I have brought noting but pain and strife
Into your lives.
Forgive me loving you both
Forgive me?
Lina sighed and lay back on the ground. She was so confused and she hated being confused!
What do I do? she sighed. I love them both yet I know I can only have one. Gods this is annoying! Lina rolled onto her side and glared into the ever moving flames of the campfire. I have to choose, but I don't want to. Zel is so quiet and strong. I know he will always be there for me. Yet Xellos is so fun to be around and L-sama knows we've had lots of fun. What should I do? Lina's thoughts were interrupted by the rustling of bushes signaling Zel's return. The Chimera smiled at her warmly as he sat down opposite from her and grinned at her from across the dancing flame.
"Have you made you decision Lina-chan?" Xellos asked as he floated over the campfire."
My heart was a vast and barren plain
Before you came into my life.
Without you I am nothing,
A stone vessal without anything
To filll my life and heart
How could I not love you
Lina I am sorry to put you through this but I must know? Zel through silently as he stared at the ruby-eyed sorceress. Please forgive me for making you choose like this. Zel thought back to the first time he had seen Lina and smiled slightly, that was when he had lost hit heart
She had stared at him unflinchingly with defiance burning in her eyes. She'd had the gall to taunt him, and at first that had set him aflame with anger. But as he got to know the petite sorceress better, he had burned with another, more dangerous fire. A fire that threatened to consume him, to burn him away till he was laid bare before her with all his defenses gone.
So after they had defeated Shabrinigdo, he had run and he had tried to regain a small measure of his precious calm. And sure enough, he had gone back to her, drawn to her brilliant aura like a moth to a flame, heedless of the danger. And he had been burnt, countless times, yet he still stayed waiting for her to notice him. And Zel would be damned if he was going to let that Mazuko bastard take her without a fight!
I could never hate you,
I could no more do that
Then I could stop breathing
You are my light in the darkness
That I call my soul
I love you more then he loves you.
Ah my dear Lina-chan, it has finally come to this. I am not surprised. Neither the Chimera could live with sharing you. But the Chimera just haven't taken into consideration how nasty I truly can be. Oh well he will learn to not cross me after you have chosen. Come my Lina-chan, make you decision quick! I need to show you pleasure that comes when you embrace the Darkness. Come my bright burning star, sear me with to white hot heat. Kill me with your soft and scented body. Come ma petite.
Don't listen to him,
I am your Midnight Lover,
Please my love, look at me
Choose the one who
Loves you more then life itself
Choose me.
Zel saw the lustful look that Xellos kept giving Lina, and his hand clenched into fists. You will not touch her, damn you. Not while I live! As if he could hear Zelgadis' angry though, Xellos looked over at the angry Chimera and smirked. So sure of yourself are you Mazuko. I pray to L-sama that your ego takes a beating tonight. Zel looked over at Lina she was nibbling on her bottom lip. Zel caught her eye, and smiled
"Whomever you choose, I will always love you Lina." Zel whispered as he stared into her beautiful eyes. Lina nodded jerkily
"Thanks Zel. That means a lot to me." Lina whispered back.
No, choose me,
I am your Angel of Darkness
The dark reflection
That you can't resist
I am the darkness,
Come to me.
Behing his smiling mask, Xellos snarled. How dare she gift that undeserving Chimera with her smile. Xellos saw the love and patience in Zel's eyes and it seemed to fan his smoldering hatred of the Chimera into a raging inferno that threatened to overwhelm him.
Just as soon as Lina-chan is done, I will show you new levels of pain my dear Chimera. Xellos silently promised his rival, and he smiled in anticipation. Xellos could already hear Zelgadis' screams in his ears. He could taste the salty wetness of the tears he would cry. "Soon." Xellos whispered.
"What was that Xellos?" Lina asked. Xellos turned to her grinning.
"Nothing Lina-chan, have you decided?"
I want you both,
Yet I must choose
What should I do?
Should I choose
My Angel of Darkness
Or my Midnight Lover?
Oh you are cruel Xellos. Lina though silently. Yet I still want you, I still love you, and that makes it all the more thrilling. Yes life with you would never be boring. But what would stop you from becoming bored with me and then tossing me aside. I couldn't live if I was to give my love to you, to only be tossed aside when you grow bored. Lina looked over at Zel and he tried to smile at her. Yet she could see the longing and pain within his sapphire blue eyes. He truly loves me, and I know that I can love him back without fear of him ripping my heart in two. I know I can trust him, I know him.
Me, my love, please,
Don't leave me a barren stone again
Don't leave me alone and cold
As the stars in the midnight sky.
Come to my my bright shining light.
Zel felt his heart break in two as Lina looked over at Xellos and smile at the Trickster. Xellos' grin widened until it bordered on a smirk. Lina stood up, and began to walk over to Xellos. Zelgadis hung his and he felt the tears run down his cheeks.
"Xellos, I love you, but as a brother. A fun loving and hilarious brother, but a brother all the same. But I don't love you like I love Zel, I'm sorry." Lina's voice distantly registered in Zel's ears, but he wasn't listening. Zel looked up when he saw a pair of boot clad feet pause in front of his line of sight.
I choose you,
My Midnight Lover.
I won't let you be alone.
Never again my love.
You and I will always be together
You and I, Zelgadis
Zel dared to raise his head and he stared into Lina's ruby-red eyes as she knelt down next to him
"I choose you Zelgadis Greyweres. You are the one that I love." Lina murmured as he gently cupped Zel's face between her hands and kissed him on the lips.
"I love you too Lina." Zel whispered as he wrapped his arms around Lina's neck. Lina crawled into Zel's lap and he gasped in shock. "Li.. Lina!" he cried as Lina silenced him with a kiss.
"Shhh Zel, not now." Lina murmured against Zel's lips.
"Screw this!" Xellos shouted as he stood before them. His violet eyes snapped with deadly rage and infinite pain.
No you are mine.
I will not let you go to him!
If I can't have you,
Then no one shall!
I won't let you go to
That Chimeric Freak!
Lina stared at Xellos in shock.
"Xellos I have chosen." Lina whispered saddened.
"No!" Xellos snarled as he grabbed Lina and held her against his chest.
"Xellos you're hurting me!" Lina cried as Xellos' hand clamped down on her wrist with bruising force.
"Let go of her!" Zelgadis said calmly, yet around his body the air seemed to shimmer with power. Zelgadis was ready to kill Xellos!
Leave her alone!
She had chosen me!
Can't you leave it at that?
Must you cause more pain and sorrow?
I won't let you hurt her Xellos!
You won't hurt her!
Zel snarled; a truly animal sound and he drew his sword.
"Fight me you dishonorable bastard. Or must you hide behind the woman you claim to love?" Xellos growled and he tossed Lina away from him
"Tough words boy, lets see if you can back them up? I will make you death a glorious event that will go down in Mazuko history." Xellos smiled a horrible twisted smiled and he gathered his power around his staff.
Foolish Chimera!
I will do what I want, and won't stop me!
I hold the power of Darkness
Whilst you cling to your humanity
So be it, you will die with your
Precious love
Xellos unleashed a black wave of power that slammed into Zel with the power of a sledgehammer.
Lina escape while you can. Zel silently pleaded with his love. Run don't let my sacrifice be in vain! Zelgadis climbed back to his feet and he ran Xellos though with his sword. Xellos smiled cruelly at the Chimera.
"Have you forgotten that mundane weapons have no effect on me?" Zel smiled grimly.
"No I haven't. Astral Vine!" Zelgadis' sword glowed with a green energy and he yanked the sword from Xellos' body.
"NO!" Xellos screamed as he grabbed Zel. "You may have killed me, but I won't let you win." Xellos gather his powers and some of the reckless power washed over to Zel and he groaned in agony as he fell to his knees.
No! I will not allow this!
I am sorry Xellos that I couldn't love you
But I won't let you hurt him.
I am sorry, please forgive me?
I trully did love you
But not as I love Zelgadis.
Tears ran down Lina's cheeks as she cast the spell for Laguna Blade. The black blade formed in her hands and she walked over to Xellos. Tears blurred Lina's vision as she cut Xellos' hand from his body. Zel breathed once again and he looked over at Lina. Zel stumbled to his feet and he laid his hands on Lina's shoulders.
"I'm sorry." Lina whispered as she held the Laguna Blade over Xellos. The Mazuko looked up at Lina with a kind of weary relief in his tortured violet gaze.
"Forgive me." Lina whispered and she brought the Laguna Blade down and it lodged itself into Xellos' heart.
"Thank you." Xellos whispered.
I feel the biting pain within my heart
You have killed me,
Oh well it's better o die
Then live with your hatred.
Know that I loved only you.
I loved only you Lina Inverse!
Xellos smiled once.
"Aishiteru." he whispered and he died. Lina buried her head in Zel's stone shoulder. They buried Xellos buy a beautiful lake and on the grave marker they wrote:
Here Rests Xellos Metallium,
Friend and Lover Who Paid
The Ultimate Price for Love.
You Shall be sorely missed.
Lina stared down at the grave and kissed her fingertips. Lina placed her fingers on thee marker.
"Goodbye Xellos." she whispered as she mounted her horse and rode over to her husband.
"Do you think he heard you?" Zel asked. Lina smiled sadly
"I think so, and where ever he is, I pray to the Gods that he is happy." Lina and Zel nudged their horses into a trot. They had to leave the past behind and concentrate on the future, after all that was what really mattered.
