Every since he could remeber, the other kids in the village had called him names such a "freak", "cripple" and such. What was worse was the fact that they would regularly beat him up. After one such beatings, Akoushi Rezo decided that he'd had enough. He tried to explain to his parents but they were to involved with their lives to worry very much about their 'useless' son. So instead, Rezo cut himself off from the rest of the people in the village and instead spent most of his time in the forest surrounding his home. Where he lacked human friends, Rezo more then made for it with the creautures of the forest. Then one bleesed day, he dicovered something that would change his life forever, he dicovered the miracle of magick.
It had been an accident really. He hadn't meant to heal the bird's wing. But he had been so upset about the pain he sensed raidiating from the poor creature he couldn't stand it. He had held the bird in his hands trying to comfort it when he felt a warmth flow through his hands. The bird had ceased her struggling and had settled down in Rezo's hands. After he realized what had happened, he wept tears of pure joy. Finally, he had a way to prove he wasn't useless. Rezo's first impulse was to race back to his home and share his great news with his parents, but he quickly discarded that. If they knew their son contained magick within him, they might sell him into slayery to the highest bidder. So instead, Rezo harbored his secret until he was nearly eight years old. Then in a matter of minutes, everybody realized that Rezo 'the blind boy' wasn't what he seemed.
A small child had wandered into the forest and had been attacked by a boar, and Rezo had fought to save the child's life. He had only practiced his skills on animals, but he guesed the general concept was the same. He had healed the extent of the child's wounds and after being healed, he child had taken one look at Rezo and had fled in terror. Rezo hung his head as dissapointment settled over him like a heavy cloak. He had tried at least, and in the end, wasn't that all that mattered? But Rezo didn't realize the error of his choice till he walked back to his cottage and found it a burning
The angry villagers surrounded him and pelted stones at him. The mother of the child he had saved was at the very forefront hurling curses and insults at him. She said he had enchanted the boar into attacking her son, and that Rezo was a Mazuko, and that he and his fmaily should die for their crimes. Rezo's mother for the first time in his life tried to interceed but that fell upon her first and her screams for mercy would haunt Rezo for the rest of his life. Finally the villagers had finished kicking and beating his mother and they backed away revealing her bruised and battered body. But amazingly, she was still live. Rezo rushed over to his mother's side and tried to casts a healing spell on her, but it was no use, her injuries were to many and his fledgling powers were not strong enough.
So while he had tried to save his mother, the rest of villagers watched on in horror, and when she died clutching his hand, they immediately thought he had killed her. Rezo stood up and faced them with tears runing down his cheeks. Then he felt all the pent up rage and bitterness explode! It was as if another being had taken over his body, a being of great evil and destruction. After the anger had been drained from his system, Rezo 'looked' around him in absolute horror. His entire village and a large chunk of the forest was a raging inferno. Rezo realized dimly that he had caused this destruction, and he swore he would atone for his crimes. He also swore that he would never lose his temper and let his 'demon' out every again. Akoushi Rezo died that day, and out of the ashs rose the man who would eventually become know as Rezo The Red Priest
