The Hunter

"Good night Lina-san."

"Good night Amelia."

The young princess of Saylun smiled and fell asleep.

A voice, a happy young man is coming back to his home singing softly. It hears the voice and appears in front to him. He cries and flees away. It followed it, the pleasure of the hunt finally. It catches him, its tusks take his throat... blood, sweet blood...Ahhhhh!

"Ahhhhhhh" Amelia shouted, the dawn was near, Lina woke up: "Amelia, what's happening?"

"Sorry, I had a nightmare, I didn't want wake you up"

The older sorceress smiled and shook her head hugging the younger girl: "Do you want speak with me about it?"

"No but thank you very much Lina-san!"

"Well, I can go to eat downstairs without Gourry!" and with a happy smile she dressed and went out. After some minutes Amelia joined to her.

Downstairs there were only Lina-san, Zelgadiss-san and Xelloss.

Zel spoke: "It's better if we're careful, there is a very dangerous animal around here! It killed a young man this night!"

"Where?"

"Two or three kilometers to west of this inn but Amelia, it's better if you don't go there, the scene is gruesome."

But the young princess ran away, Zel followed her with a curse and Xelloss smiled but it was a dark, evil smile. Lina was the only to see it and trembled as a leaf: "I go to wake Gourry." And ran upstairs.

Amelia was running, her heart thumping it was a nightmare, only a nightmare, it's only a coincidence. She started to hear some voices:

"poor boy..."

"He's very unlucky to die a day as this..."

"His girlfriend is crushed!"

Amelia poked to see the boy, it's impossible, it was a dream, it's not true, no...no...no...his blood, his so sweet blood...no...no...no...she fell in the darkness.

Zel saw Amelia shake her head, then fainting but he was able to take her before she hit the ground.

"Amelia, Amelia..."

A soft voice called her... Zelgadiss... his voice was worried she needed woke up to reassure him: "Zel..."

Lina and the others sighed for the relief: "Amelia are you Ok?"

"I told you don't go there!"

Her eyes became full of fear and Zel felt a pang of guilt in his heart and sweetened his voice: "You know, you're afraid of the blood."

She cried, broken sighs, she behaved as she had done something of unforgivable: "...Amelia... Don't worry, sorry. I didn't want shouting you but I was worried about you."

In every other moment she would be extremely happy about his sentence but now her dream chased her: "It's my fault."

Xelloss smiled, he was the only person that understood what she was saying and he was supremely amused.

"It's my fault if that boy is dead!"

The other shouted: "WHAT?"

"I killed him"

Lina controlled her front: "I think you've the fever."

For an instant Amelia watched her friend gratefully, it was possible, she had that strange nightmare because she had the fever the her eyes noted the smiling face of Xelloss and something in her said that Lina was wrong, she started to cry again.

Gourry, for once fast to understand what doing spoke to the innkeeper that has been with them when Zel was come back with Amelia. He was disappeared.

Zel turned to the innkeeper and he had a bad feeling: "It's better if we go to the forest."

"Don't be absurd, Zel! Amelia is sick and she needs of a warm bed!"

"How do you think to persuade every inhabitant of the village she isn't a some sort of werewolf?"

The Xel's smile never wavered: "Kill the monster and her friends!... It's a werewolf ready to eat our sons!... Kill her!"

"All right! I've understood! We go out from here then you cast raywing and I put a shield up."

Luckily in the village there aren't sorceress or they'd have needed destroy it to go out of there, Amelia continued to cry under the arms of Gourry that she was a killer.

They were grounded in the near forest and they had prepared a bed of leaves for Amelia that was fallen asleep. The night arrived awfully soon but they weren't able to sleep with the ill princess.

Suddenly the noises in the forest vanished, Lina noted this: "I'm afraid there is an enemy near us, a dangerous enemy if it quieted the entire forest then she felt a growl behind her: "AMELIA". The princess was disappeared, there was a wolf, a very big white wolf. Lina watched the wolf astonished, Amelia was right, what they were able to do... how is beautiful...how is beautiful!

Another night, another hunt, many preys around it. A red hairs girl, she watched it as she was spellbound, a blond man with a surprised air, a strange thing of stone that was sighing and... the same presence of the other time. It knew him, he was more powerful than it was and he had marked those other human beings.

"Amelia?" the stone boy whispered.

That name send a tingle in its body and it yelped.

"Zel, she understands us!" the red girl cried.

It decided this place wasn't good for the hunt and it started to run towards the forest. There was food, prey, and blood...

"Oh, no! She's running away!"

As Lina finished that sentence the white wolf was disappeared in the forest.

"Shimatta!" Zel cursed, she was too much fast because Zel was able trying to catch.

"Where is Xelloss?

They looked around, the mazoku seemed disappeared.

"Maybe he's following Amelia", Zel snorted

"Then we must try to catch her." And they ran after the wolf.

A deer, sweet his blood but not sweet as the blood's man, it felt movement behind it and turned to see the greater hunter.

He sliced his wrist: "Come here, pet. Drink my blood!"

It yelped again, his blood attracted it that started slowly to go near him.

"Don't worry, pet. I don't want kill you!", he cooed.

It was near to him and the blood's scent filled the air, it ran for the last meter and licked his blood, it drank, the best blood in the world (?), when he healed his wound and his good blood stopped to well up.

He put his hand on its front: "Amelia, come here!"

She, not more it, looked him and sighed: "Who am I?"

She thought 'Xelloss' but her voice growled.

"Good girl!" he patted her head

She trembled. He smiled: "I guess, you want know what YOU are."

She wagged, and he started: "Well, apart you're mine because I've claimed you with my blood..."

She pouted or she tried to pout and his smile widened: "...you're a sort of mazoku. The last results of an experiment born and died some centuries ago. If I hadn't given my blood you'd be a simple big beast. As that you can kill normal human beings, it's impossible kill you with normal weapon and you're a little more resistant to the magic. Thanks to me you can learn to use the magic with both the forms, you'll speak again and you aren't slave of your instinct!"

Amelia tried to speak: "B-u-t......... I'm yours!" she cried.

"Ehy, you learn very fast. It doesn't exist a perfect solution!"

The dawn arrived and with it her friends. They looked them astonished. Her eyes, ever been blue, was now yellow...
