Lina walked along in silence, which was unusual for her. She had nothing to complain about, because her mind really wasn't on anything. She looked up at the the sky and shielded her ruby eyes from the sun with one hand.
'Time is short. We promise to live our lives to the fullest; this I swear. Because that's all that really matters.' Negha's words flowed through her mind over and over. 'I want you to do the same.' Looking around she announced, "We'll camp here." the others nodded silently. Unloading her things she sat on a rock. The others had made themselves comfortable as well.
'I want you to do the same.' she thought she had. But treasure hunting, bandit raids, quests....they weren't her interest any more....she could never give it up completely, oh no, she qould always have fun doing it....Just not as much as before...
Her eyes wandered across her friends. They first fell on Gourry and she smiled slightly. The swordsman was like a big brother to her. A dense big brother, but a big brother none-the-less. He was polishing his sword and the metal reflected the late afternoon sun brightly.
Ah...the sword. Another one of her used-to-be-fascinations. She still wanted it. She'd wanted it since she had first heard the story about it. Then, when she learned the GigaSlave, it clenched it. She had to have it. But, it just didn't seem all that important anymore.
Her eyes drifted to Amelia. The young girl was gathering wood for the evening fire. She bounded around the area tirelessly and Lina couldn't suppress another small smile. She remembered her youth. She remembered being just as innocent; and perhaps just as annoying. She never longer for those days again. She just missed them.
Finally, her gaze fell onto Zelgadis. Her heart panged. That was something that she had always deprived herself of. She'd had this secret love for a while. Always hiding it; never wanting to get hurt. he was so busy trying to find a cure. That was what was important to him. He didn't need her....not like she needed him.
His calmness, his soothing voice. Those were the only things she needed. He was oblivious to everythign, sitting and sipping.... ...whatever it was he sipped. She looked away at the ground. Why? WHY? WHY!? She yelled in her head and punched the rock she was sitting on. Looking at the quickly darkening sky, she decided to go somewhere where she could really think. She tightened her cape as she stood.
"I'm going for a walk," she said with fake indifference, "I'll be back in a little while." With that, she walked off.
