Sitting in my easy chair,
remote control in hand;
about to watch my Slayers tape,
when I’m hit with a rubber band.
I spin around to see the culprit,
fist raised high and true;
when I see my brother there,
I beat him black and blue.
I finally sit to watch my show,
a soda and a snack;
when I hear a noise behind me,
and get socked right in the back.
I turned around once again,
to see my father there;
my hands grip in the soft fabric,
of my easy chair.
I calmly say, within clenched teeth,
"I’m trying to watch my movie";
when he finally leaves and I have peace,
I hear my mom call "LI!"
"Please take the dog outside!" she calls,
and I crumpled, in hand, the can;
"I took her out three minutes ago!"
"Well, she has to go now, take her again!"
I slowly walk in from our one hour jog,
My dog, barely missing breath, full of jubilation;
I slump in my chair, finding relief,
to find my sister on the Playstation.
I scream in exhaustion, and utter defeat,
and pulled the movie out of the player;
tromping upstairs I find the other,
and put it in with much fervor.
And found it unrewound.
I grudgingly pressed rewind in a minute;
and waited the extra time,
only to fall asleep halfway in it!
