Starting Over

Filia felt miserable. The cause of her misery, a certain blue chimera, was avoiding her. Ever since that night together at the slave town, she hadn't been able to remove him from her thoughts.

He, however, would see her and their eyes would meet for a second, and he'd blush and move away. It was so frustrating. Why was she getting so worked up over him? She'd been with him once, and now she was going crazy, just because he wouldn't pay her any attention.

"No, Filia," she thought to herself, "you've got to get control of yourself. Yes, it was a good night, you can't complain about it." She sighed, "O.K., it was a wonderful night. But, you can't expect him to feel anything towards you. It was just a one time situation that meant absolutely nothing."

However, as she went to bed, she couldn't help wonder why she was crying.

Filia woke up. Did she just hear a knock? She must have slept in. She sighed. Lina and the others would be downstairs eating already. She sighed again. "Guess I'll go downstairs and get some....."

She heard the knock again. She got up, put a robe on and opened the door. She stood in shock, as she saw Zelgadiss standing at the door. He blushed noticing she was in her robe, which made her blush and pull it closer around her.

"Filia, we... kinda ....started off... on....the wrong foot," Zel stammered, his usual composure crumbling. "I was wondering...if you..... would like... to go....umm ...go out...cough....on a date?"

Filia stood there, her eyes wide and blinking wildly, wondering if she was dreaming this. She wanted to scream "yes". However, she held her composure, with great effort, and smiled sweetly, "Yes, I would love to."

Zel smiled, seemingly relieved. "Great, how about 6:00 tomorrow evening?"

"That'll be great!" Filia quickly responded, her heart doing somersaults.

"Great! See you later!"

Filia calmly watched as Zel walked away. She then walked in her room, and squealed like a school girl.

"Oh, what am I going to wear? I have absolutely nothing."

Filia was waiting patiently in front of the inn. The day before had been interesting. Once, Lina and Amelia had gotten wind that Filia had a date, although they couldn't get her to tell who it was (That's all she need, Amelia sulking and Lina teasing), they had insisted on helping pick some clothing.

When they were done, Filia felt they had gone overboard. They had gotten her into a formal spaghetti strap white dress with a silk scarf to drape over her arms. Amelia had decided to steal Filia's hat, saying it didn't look good with the dress. So, Filia had her gold hair brushed behind her pointed ears. Lina teased her, saying she looked like an elf.

And now, she was waiting patiently outside the inn. She was getting disappointed. Zel was late. She sighed and step back from the curb as a carriage drove up to the inn. She stood there waiting for the occupants to leave, but instead had to keep herself from squealing when she saw Zel step out.

Zel looked sooo handsome. He was wearing a black suit with a formal dress coat that hung to mid calf. He walked up to her and bowed, taking her hand and kissing it.

"Sorry I was late. I wanted to be sure everyone was gone, so we could keep our date private."

"Oh, I understand." Filia fawned, getting starry eyed.

Zel took Filia's hand and lead her to the carriage and helped her in. He then stepped in after her.

Zel had their date all figured out.

They first went to a museum. He had figured, he would enjoy the ancient magic exhibits and she'd enjoy the ancient pottery exhibits. Filia felt overdressed at first, but realized quickly that a lot of high society people seemed to come, so felt a little at ease.

Zel, then took her to a very fancy restaurant.

"Dang," she thought to herself, "Zel's put a lot into this date."

They had a wonderful meal, which included a fine wine. Then, afterward, Zel had asked her to dance. She had quickly excepted. It felt good to be in his arms again. He was so graceful. He twirled her around and pulled her back, where she pulled herself as close to him as possible. She closed her eyes putting her head to his chest, and listened to the steady thump of his heart.

Unfortunately, the date eventually ended. Zel drove her up to the inn and stepped out, giving Filia his arm and lead her to the door.

"Thank you for excepting. I had a wonderful time."

Filia smiled, "I did too..... You coming inside?"

"No, I'm going to take the carriage back and then change out of this suit, so when I come back, no one will suspect it was me you were dating."

"Oh...., that's probably a good idea."

"Well then, good night"

Filia pouted, "Are you going to give me a good night kiss?"

"Weellll, you're not suppose to kiss on the first date," Zel smiled, wiggling a finger at her, "didn't you know that. I wanted us to start over again on the right foot. Maybe, we'll kiss on the second date,..... if you want a second date."

Filia frowned moving away from his wiggling finger, "I think you've been around Xelloss too long," she said, then giggled.

Zel wrinkled up his nose, then tapped his finger against his chin, thoughtfully, "Oh yeah, I remember, you have to wait till the third date for a kiss."

Filia jumped, "ooh, I'm sorry," she pouted some more, "and I thought the girl was suppose to be the tease."

Zel blushed lightly, "Well, I better let you go to bed, I'll see you in the morning."

Filia sighed as he got into the carriage. She stood there, then blushed, when a sudden naughty thought came to mind about how she'd like to see him in the morning.

She sighed again, and walked inside.

"Oh well, maybe on a later date." she giggled, then went to bed for a good nights sleep.
