How In The World Did That Happen?

He sat and watched as the light of the campfire flickered of her hair giving it a mysterious glow. She ate and laughed at the others who where up to there usual hi-jinx

He stared deep into the flames and thought of all her annoying quirks, the ones that sometimes drove him mad, but then they're were times when she would smile just so and he couldn't help but melt.

Zelgadis glanced at her briefly and sighed. "She's so different from me, it would never work," he thought. "How foolish of me to even think about it."

They hadn't been traveling together long, In the beginning her thought her a talkative, bottomless pit, but somewhere, somehow she had actually begun to grow on him.

At first he did believe it, HER of all the people in the world HE would fall for HER.

"The others would laugh, call me crazy and tell me to have my head examined and ..."

"Zelgadis?"

"Yes Gourry?"

"I'm really tired and I was wondering if - "

"Sure I'll take first watch," he said.

"Thanks, wake me in a couple hours, night Zel." The swordsman went to his tent and bedded down for the night. Soon the others followed to their own tents leaving the two of them along.

She had finished eating her last bit of food and pulled her cloak around her against the slight chill in the evening air. He picked up his mug of coffee and sipped quietly, looking around at nothing and everything all in one.

"You find me attractive don't you?" She asked suddenly making him almost choked on his coffee.

"What?"

"Don't deny it I've seen the way you look at me and who can blame you, after all I am the most beautiful intelligent sorceress that every walked the earth." Then she laughed, that ear-splitting laugh that could wake the dead or at least their other companions.

"NAGA BE QUIET!" They all yelled from their tents. To which she gave a haughty little "Humph" and returned her attention to the chimera.

"Well?"

"And If I was?" He asked calmly sipping his coffee.

"Then as I said you have very good after all I am - "

"Naga?

"Yes."

"Keep your voice down please."

She got up and sat down beside him and looked at him with an air of superiority.

"Make me," she said.

"Fine," he smiled, set down his coffee mug, turned around and kissed her.

At first she sat there frozen in shock then slowly began to respond. He could her feel slender fingers touch his neck as she pulled him closer, furthering along the kiss. When they finally separated they looked at each other in surprise. Then began kissing again.

Lina and Amelia opened their tent to get last minute snacks when they saw the pair by the fire.

"Naga and Zelgadis, but how? I love Zelgadis, not her." Amelia said

"There's only one way in the world something like this would happen," Lina said

"How?"

"You know."

Amelia looked at her confused then realized. "Oh Yeah"

"IT'S THOSE FANFIC WRITERS AGAIN." They cried then closed the tent flap.

"Don't they have anything better to do?

"Probably not. Just watch tomorrow they'll probably have her hanging all over Shabrinigdo piece NO. 5# or something. Just go to sleep."

Epilogue:

Amelia: What's the big Idea having Naga kiss Zelgadis?

Me: I'm trying to break new boundaries.

Lina: What? The boundaries of good taste.

Zel: I don't know it wasn't so bad.

Everyone: You've got to be kidding, right !!!

Zel: That's a secret.

Lina: Oh no now he's turning into Xellos, when will the horror end.
