He walked through the door and stood before the elder and anxiously waited.
"I've decided to ask you to go and accompany her," the elder began.
"You needn't ask, you know I've always been willing, considering," the man said. The elder only laughed.
"I know that all too well."
"When am I to met her?"
"Soon"
"And then?"
"You'll stay until it comes in whatever form it takes."
The man sighed and shook his head.
"She will have many trials that will come and go, but this is thus far greater a power then anything I've felt before," the elder said.
"The rendezvous, where is it?"
"Outside a village on a small road. Once there the change will occur and you will loose all that we have said on this matter."
The man nodded in understanding, taking in all the seriousness of the elder's words.
"Remember," the elder continued. "This is of great importance the debt ...."
"Is unimaginable," the other interrupted. "That I could never forget," the man finished, bowing deeply. The elder waved his hand and the other man disappeared.
The sun was warm against his skin where he reappeared, with trees and bushes all around. The road he stood on was small, the dirt loose from lack of frequent use. He felt a slight tingle that started in his skin as he continued to look around the area.
"It must be starting," he thought as the sensation crept deeper into his body then his mind, clearing away all traces of his true purpose as he slumped over as if asleep.
He woke up a few minutes later a bit dizzy and stared at his surroundings.
"How did I get here?" He asked himself then shrugged and started walking. After a few minutes he was greeted by the sound of voices arguing a little ways away. He continued on until he found a group of bandits surrounding a young woman.
"Your not going to touch that lady, you dirty thief," he shouted, drawing the bandits attention.
After a brief exchange with the rag-tag group, he quickly dispatched them and watched as the leader ran off. Then looked at the person he saved and realized it was a young girl. For some reason he thought it would be a beautiful woman and made note f his disappointment. Even through something about the girl felt familiar in an eerie sort of way.
He talked with the girl and she told him that she was traveling to a city ten days away. He decided to accompany her as her protector then took the lead walking up the road.
"I'm Gourry, a traveling warrior and mercenary," he said, turning back to her to introduce himself. "I forgot to ask, what's your name?"
"I'm Lina, my names Lina Inverse."
