File Four: Disappearances and Reappearances

The three of them sat down at Lina and Zelgadis' table.

"First of all what is you name Ma'am?" Zelgadis asked pulling out a pad of paper with a pen.

"Mildred Bannok." The woman replied with a shaky voice.

"Okay Mildred why don't you tell us about your son and what happened?" Lina said in a very calming voice.

Mildred took a deep breath and closed her eyes for a few moments before she started to talk. "Well my son's name is Justin. He's seven years old and he has short blond hair and green eyes. What happened was that we at the park and was I sitting down on a bench talking to other mothers while Justin was playing with the other kids at the playground. I made sure to keep a watchful eye on son because of the disappearances lately. So I go to look at my watch for just a few seconds and when I looked up Justin had disappeared! There was no way that he could have walked away because it was only like two seconds." Mildred started to sob again.

"What did you do next?"

Mildred tried to calm herself down a bit. "I went to ask the kids and the people around the playground if they had seen what happened to Justin. Everyone told me that they didn't see what happened to him. It was just like one moment he's there, the next he's gone!"

"And which park were you two at when this happened?"

"Greenwood park."

"Have you went to the police yet?"

"No not yet."

"Well I think you should go do that now. Alright?"

Mildred nodded and got up and left the diner.

Lina watched the distressed woman as she left the diner and then turned her attentions over to other people in the diner. "Anyone how to get to Greenwood park?"

A few minutes later Lina and Zelgadis were pulling up in their rental car towards the park where Justin Bannok disappeared.

"Lina do you think that the Bannok boy's disappearance is related to the case we are on?" Zelgadis asked once he turned off the engine.

"Could be. Justin Bannok's disappearance does seem to be strange, but is it related? I'm not sure." Lina got out of the car and servayed the area a bit. Nothing seemed to be strange about the little quiet park.

"You know you haven't told me your theory yet." Zelgadis interrupted Lina's thoughts.

"I told you that I'd tell you once we headed over to Kithmat's home."

"Yeah but you only said that because we were planning on heading over there right after we ate."

"So?"

"So why don't you tell me now?"

"Because I don't feel like it." Lina flashed him a little evil smile.

Zelgadis rolled his eyes while shaking his head.

They approached the area roughly where Justin Bannok had disappeared. There were lots of little kids playing on the playground while parents sat around on benches keeping watchful eyes on their children.

Lina and Zelgadis split up to go talk to the people in the area to see if any of them knew anything.

Lina tried first asking a little boy about Justin's age about what he knew and the kid just ran off screaming Stranger! Lina rubbed her head, she hadn't been there long and she was already forming a headache. Oh this is going to be really annoying...

Zelgadis went to one of the parents sitting on the benches. He approached a middle aged man with brown hair and reddish brown eyes.

"Excuse me sir I'm special agent Zelgadis Mully with the FBI. I'd like to ask you some questions about an incident that happened in this park earlier." Zelgadis said while flashing his credentials.

The man and the people sitting around him each went a bit ridged. "Um... and what incident would that be?"

"A little while ago Mildred Bannok was in this park with her seven year old son Justin Bannok. Mrs. Bannok was watching her son the whole time he was playing on the playground except when she went to check her watch. Her eyes were only off her son for a few seconds and when she looked up her son had disappeared. She asked if anyone knew where he went and no one saw him disappear. Did you see or know anything about the disappearance?"

"Well I haven't been at the park for very long. But when I got here everyone was leaving because of what happened to the Bannok kid. Everyone around here in this town is already spooked about all those people missing that when they heard about that boy going missing they all cleared out of here."

"Then why are you staying at this park if you what happened?"

"Well I wasn't sure if the story was true or not. And besides I don't believe half the things that people get freaked out over."

"Thanks for your time sir." Zelgadis nodded to the man and walked off.

A few minutes later Lina and Zelgadis met up after talking to most of the people at the park near the playground area.

"So did you find out anything?" Lina asked Zelgadis.

"No, it seems that most of the people who could have told us anything got freaked out and left."

"Yeah I know."

"So what do we do now?"

"How about we check around the park to see if we can find anything?"

"Alright."

The two of them started to go check around the park when Lina got a phone call on her cell phone.

"Lina Sculder."

Zelgadis looked over to his partner with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes I know of him.... Oh really? .... We'll get there as soon as possible." Lina hung up her phone and put it back in her jacket.

"Who was that?"

"That was Officer Garmen."

"What did he want?"

"Well do you know who Kirk Redmond is?"

"Yes according to the case file he was the first person to go missing in this town. Why do you ask?"

"Well it appears that the missing Mr. Redmond is no longer missing."
