"No." Zelgadiss decided and Xellos actually pouted.

"That's rather unfair of you Zel-chan. You want answers from me but you won't provide any of your own?"

"I refuse to be obligated to you in anyway."

"Really Zel-chan, what did I ever do to deserve this hostility?"

"You destroyed the Clare Bible manuscript."

"That had nothing to do with your cure."

"I don't believe you."

"So you're hostile to me because you're untrusting. That's nice to know, for a while I was beginning to think it was something about me."

"That's not it!"

"But you just said -- "

"You're twisting my words!"

"Is that the only reason Zel-chan?"

Zelgadiss scowled, he didn't want to answer anything. If he wasn't careful Xellos would trick him into saying something he didn't want to admit.

Like the fact that he looked wonderful in the firelight.

No! He couldn't think like that. If he did... if he did... what?

"Why so quiet Zel-chan?"

"Go away."

"Do you really want me to leave?"

"If I say 'yes' will you actually do it?"

"Yes."

The answer surprised him and he looked up to find Xellos watching him seriously. For the first time he could remember, he though that Xellos was honestly telling him the truth.
