Ja Ja Uma ni Sasenaide (Don't make me wild like you)

Notes

This is the opening song to the first season of Ranma 1/2. I'm using the semi-cheesey english translations.

Yappa pa, yappa pa
I don't know what to do
My heart is not a game
It's Mahjongg to you

Firia grumbled, her fury growing steadily as she tried to piece the vase back together. He'd done it again, popping up out of nowhere and taunting her enough that she threw all sanity to the wind and tried to flatten him.

Yappa pa, yappa pa
I feel like such a shrew

Why did he always make her so mad? She should be better at keeping her temper than that. It was far from the dignified image she liked to display. He had been showing up more often than normal, lately.

Who needs boys? Don't you dare
Make me wild like you

But then, a lot of men had been showing up at her shop of late. It was getting a bit annoying, all those suitors taking up time that she could have spent tending to her shop. Maybe she should use his tactic in getting them to leave ... No! Why was she even considering it?!

Before you, boys got on their knees
Ranma, Ranma, you
make me feel dizzy

Firia paused, picking up a scrap of yellow cloth left over from the last fight with him. A whiff of his scent rose from it, teasing her nose. A faint wave of warm dizziness swept over her, her heart thumping rapidly. As it did every time he got near, before he would do something to annoy her.

Since the day I ran into you
Ranma, Ranma you ...

When had this started? Firia could no longer remember exactly when.

... stole my heart, and you ...

Xeros ...

... don't you dare go and ...
Make me wild like you

Xeros sat on the roof of the shop, scowling at the hord of men hovering at the gate. He knew his presence was the only reason why they weren't pestering Firia inside. Some of them were humans, but most were young gold dragons, not a few younger than Firia herself. Whelps. Strange, how he had started acting more dignified than he normaly did.

Somebody tell me why it's so hard
To say those three words: "I love you"?

But it was probably even weirder, the fact that he had fallen prey to the one emotion most despised by Mazoku.

Love.

And he couldn't do a thing about it. A single word, a single emotion, and his world had been turned upside down and inside out.

If I let myself give into you
I'll become just as wild as you!

Fira sighed, tucking the scrap of fabric into her pocket as little Val started to charge around in the back of the store. It was hard to keep a serious face around her foster son. Sometimes she was very tempted to do as Xeros did and just goof around with the boy. But no. She had to provide Val with a good example.

Before you come in like a breeze
Won't you stop and ring the bell, please?

Reaching a deciscion, Xeros dropped off the roof to stand at the front door. A dark smile at the horde of suitors sent them scattering to the winds, albeit briefly. He reached for the doorbell, but something, maybe the giggles he could hear within, maybe his knowledge of Firia's personality, stopped him from pressing it. Tentively, almost as if afraid, he reached for the doorhandle, and quietly opened the door.

Before you make my heart your home
Why not let me love you on my own ... ?

Firia pounced, swinging Val into the air, grinning at his happy giggles. And stopped, surprised, to see Xeros standing in the doorway. His eyes were open, and the normal mocking smile was missing. He seemed almost shy.

I'd be better off without you ...
But just tonight, it's all right
Until tomorrow, it's all right

She knew she shouldn't.

There was no way things would work.

But ...

"Come on in, Xeros. It's time for lunch. And please, don't play with the food this time."

Every time your eyes turn to me
Ranma, Ranma, it's me
you always tease
Someday we may be more than 'friends' ...

Bigob peered in the window of Firia's cottage, curious as to what was going on, and jealous of the purple-haired man they had all seen going into the cottage. Beautiful Firia, her foster son, and the purple-haired man seemed to be eating lunch together.

Ranma, Ranma, you've
Gone and done it true
Can't you see that you've
Made me wild like you

Wait a minute ... Bigob stared in shock as Firia, the one woman who always seemed ladylike no matter what the circumstances, dumped her bowl of soup on the purple-haired man's head.
