Chapter 12

Liena looked up at Duo, surprised etched plainly in her face. "Nani? Y-you remember... and you don't have to act like Xellos to...?"

Duo chuckled slightly. "Do you want me to?"

The redhead shuddered. "Uh, no. I'm not into hearing 'Sore wa himitsu desu' all the time again."

Duo gently started to disengage himself from Liena's grasp. "Well, about my story. It takes place thousands of years ago. A very Trickster Mazoku was the General/Priest for a powerful Mazoku Lord, the Greater Beast. Juu-ou-sama told her General/Priest to watch over a sorceress." He ran a hand through Liena's red hair. "The sorceress had killed the Dark Lord only a year ago. She was incredibly powerful." He closed his eyes, and words spoken in a sea of gold reached his ears.

"Once upon a time, there lived a sorceress. This fiery girl was a legend among our kind. She had many names: the Bandit Killer, Dark Lord Slayer, and the Dra Matta. Not very flattering, is it?

"The sorceress was very powerful. And why shouldn't she be? Her father was the strongest of our kind, and her mother was the Golden Lord Herself.

"The sorceress traveled with a band of people: A swordsman of light, but dumb as dirt; a heartless mystical swordsman; and a cheerful Princess. Everyone thought the swordsman of light and the sorceress would fall in love, while the Princess and the mystical swordsman would have romantic feelings for each other. However, the powerful sorceress and the mystical swordsman had feelings for each other, and one day, the sorceress told the heartless swordsman her romantic feelings for him."

Without opening his eyes, he said softly, "The Mazoku traveled with the sorceress and her friends for about two years. In that time, this Trickster had fallen in love with both the powerful sorceress and one of her friends, a chimera swordsman."

"Zel and I," Liena said softly. "But... Mazoku don't love!"

Duo opened his amethyst eyes, and wrapped his arms around the petite redhead. "They do. How else do you think there were so many Mazoku? Most lower level ones can't be made."

Liena shook her head. "It doesn't make sense..."

"I know it doesn't." Duo hugged the girl briefly. "One day, the Mazoku followed the two sorcerers to a secret location. There, he overheard the powerful sorceress tell the chimera that she loved him. The Trickster was crushed. But what was worse was that he heard the swordsman tell her the same. In a fit of jealousy, he killed them both."

Liena looked up into Duo's slitted amethyst eyes, shocked. "So, that's what it was..."

Duo let go of the girl. "Fast forward to the future. The Kami-sama had put the soul of the Mazoku into a human body, one war orphan. There, the Mazoku met the chimera again, only this time, he had a human body as well. This time, however, they fell in love. Everything was going along well... until the Lord of Nightmares and her daughter started walking this dimension again."

"Then memories were awakened, and their hearts were disrupted." Liena walked over to the rumpled bed. "I know what happened. I knew in my heart. I just didn't want to... I wanted to be wrong... that my wish had been granted..."

"Liena?" Heero placed gentle hands on her shoulders. "Your wish?"

"I asked Mom," she said, her voice thick, "to have more time with you. I had just realized I loved you. I didn't want that taken away so quickly..."

Heero just hugged the girl. After a little bit, he chuckled.

"L-sama!" Liena turned around, her ruby eyes wide. "Did I just hear Heero Yuy chuckle?"

"It's the end of the world as we know it!" Duo said, clutching his heart, swooning melodramatically.

Heero glared at the two of them. Then, he laughed outright. "It's nothing. Just... Relena... is she...?"

"Yep." Liena flashed him a familiar mad smile. "Obsession dies hard, I guess."

Duo started giggling. "I... can't believe it... I thought Relena was familiar... But..."

"Once a princess, always a princess, I guess," Heero supplied, a faint smile on his lips.

Liena shook her head. "I liked her more as Amelia, though. At least she was more tolerable then."

Duo placed a hand to his forehead. "You weren't the one who was on the receiving end of her feel-good feelings!"

"They still made me sick, Duo!" she retorted. "It isn't like I could deal with her talking about Justice all the time. Half the time, I wanted to Dragu Slave her ass back to Sailoon!"

"I don't think Phil would have been very happy with you," Heero deadpanned. "Sending such a powerful spell in his precious daughter's direction..."

Liena then just lost it, and landed on the floor, still laughing. Duo echoed her, holding his sides. Heero stood there, smiling faintly.

"I take it all's been forgiven?"

Liena couldn't answer him, as she was laughing too hard. Finally, she gasped out, "Yes... Oh, L-sama, I have to come over more often!"
