Lyrics are from Beauty and the Beast off the Beauty and the Beast musical.
A few months after Lost Hope
Tale as old as time
As he slept his mind went to the past. When he first met Lina. She was so full of spirit he couldn't stand seeing her as a captive.
True as it can be
So he freed her, telling himself that it was only because she could help him get revenge on Rezo.
Barely even friends
She trusted him. Only barely at first, but she trusted him, as if he was a person and not a freak.
Then somebody bends
But then, when he had ran back into her after leaving and saw her treat him like an old friend. Part of his mind wondered if that was when he first fell for her...
Unexpectedly.
Gods, why did he have to torture himself coming back to her...
Just a little change
Sylphiel and Gourry were getting married, it was about time they got together. He was set to be the Best Man again. He smiled at the thought of seeing Lina in a dress again.
Small to say the least
As he stood beside Gourry he noticed Lina looking at him and blushed and smiled shyly at her.
Both a little scared
She looked away as he smiled, blushing slightly herself. Gods he looks good like that, she thought absently
Neither one prepared
After the wedding he wandered into the reception hall. He'd almost left again, but he figured there was no use in running. Not now that he knew he was stuck.
Beauty and the Beast.
As he went to get a drink Lina walked up behind him, starteling him.
Belle: Dance with me
Beast: Oh, no, I don't...
Others: Dance with her
"Hey Zel, wanna dance" she grinned at him.
He started to say no, but some part of him said 'why not?' He set his drink down and took Lina's hand. "Sure," he smiled back.
Ever just the same
They made their way to the dance floor, looking into eachother's eyes as they made their way
Ever a surprise
People parted to watch them as they began to dance
Ever as before
Everyone watched in awe as the two danced perfectly, in perfect time to the music, swirling here, dipping there, as if it was coreographed.
Ever just as sure
Suddenly the music stopped and they noticed the lookers-on applauding them. They both blushed and went to get something to eat and drink.
As the sun will rise.
"I never knew you were that good a dancer," Lina commented shyly. Zel could only blush.
Tale as old as time
He sat down by himself for a bit. Just to get his breath, he told himself. All that dancing with Lina...
Tune as old as song
But, oh, if he wasn't stuck like this, if he could be human, he'd dance with Lina every night.
Bittersweet and strange
He sighed as he remembered it, feeling her close to him. It was like a dream, one he never wanted to wake up from.
Finding you can change
Dare he think that meant he had a chance with Lina? No, its best not to get your hopes up, he told himself.
Learning you were wrong.
But if there was, and he missed it? How could he stand it?
Certain as the sun
As he prepared for bed he wondered if he dare even hope he had a chance. Gods life was confusing.
Rising in the east
He looked outside, the moon hung full in the sky. In the distance a wolf howled, singing its lonely song, unanswered by others of its kind.
Tale as old as time
"I know how you feel," he whispered out the window then laid down. In the cold moonlight he dreampt lonely dreams.
Song as old as rhyme
He tossed and turned and then, in his dream, he saw Lina, she stood in the distance
Beauty and the Beast.
Suddenly she drifted away as he tried to run to her, calling out her name. He fell to his knees and covered his face with his hands, sure this was an omen it could never be.
Tale as old as time
He awoke with a gasp, looking out again at the dark sky. The moon was gone but stars like diamonds hung in the sky like crystal tears.
Song as old as rhyme
"I can't take this anymore," he whispered as he prepared to leave. It hurt to leave, but it could hurt more to stay, to see Lina knowing it couldn't be
Beauty and the Beast.
"How could Lina love a freakish Chimera like me anyways," he sniffed as a crystaline tear fell from his eye, then he walked off.
