Stay or Let it Go

Notes

Stay or Let it Go by Brian McKnight.

It's not my fault that you made
Yourself a regretful past
But all I know is that makes me
Look bad
When I'm holding your hand and you
See old friends you knew
And ooh
They walk away laughing calling me
A fool

Lina slammed her fork onto the table, not like the other occupants of the table noticed, as they were too busy eating breakfast. Amelia was looking for all the world as if someone had just ran over her puppy and she was not being very inconspicuous about stealing glances at Zelgadis. And Zelgadis for the most part was sipping his coffee diligently like always...or so one would think but Lina knew him better then that and she could have sworn that Zel was sneaking glances at her.

"AHHHHHH!" Lina slammed her hands down onto the table. Ever since the festival last week everyone had been acting strange...well all besides herself and Gourry.

"Something the matter...whoa!" Zel was cut off mid-sentence as Lina grabbed his arm and dragged him along out the Inn door. "May I ask where we are going?"

Lina stopped when she came to the road leading out of town. "Ok spit it out! What happened between you and Amelia?" a sudden thought came to her mind. "Wait she was the one you were moaning about wasn't she!"

Zelgadis turned his head slightly to the side as he contemplated on how to get her to drop the subject.

"Oh no ya don't! You're going to tell me everything!" Lina rubbed her hands together, pushing the slight feeling of disappointment down.

"It's not like that, it's not something that I can discuss" Zel blinked as Lina suddenly dropped to the ground to sit cross-legged.

"I've got all day how about you? I'm your friend right Zel?"

"Yes..."

"And as a friend it is my duty to help you with your problems!"

Zel captured Lina's gaze with his own, why hadn't he realized it sooner. She was everything he had ever wanted or needed in a woman. Sure she had a foul mouth sometimes...sure she beat him sometimes...and sure she had a quick temper. Ok well nothing really endearing on the outside but on the inside was a gentle soul. Kneeling down he brought his face level with her own.

Now Baby I cant
Change the things you did before
We met
(Even though I didn't know you)
But it's hard for me to trust you
Even though I love you
(Now tell me what I am to do)

"Eh Zel..."

"Well Lina you wanted me to tell all didn't you?"

"Well yeah"

Zelgadis palmed the side of Lina's cheek gently, staring into her eyes he tried to gouge her response. She seemed to shocked to do anything more then to blush and stutter incoherently. Leaning down he brushed his lips across hers nothing more then a butterfly of a kiss but enough to make his heart hammer hard against his chest. Pulling his face back slightly he smiled softly "Even if you fireball me, I think that this moment in time will be etched into my memory forever"

Lina was taken aback by the sincerity of Zelgadis's words. "Zel I..."

"Well we should be getting back to the others don't you think?" Zelgadis stood, offering his hand down he gently lifted Lina to her feet. Turning he made his way back to the Inn.

"Hey you can't just...just kiss me and turn and walk away!" Lina waved her fist and stamped her foot. Why had he done that...

Notes
