"NOOOOO!" the cry of pure agony and pain filled the morning air. As the sun slowly begins to rise into the morning sky a lone group of figures could be seen, they were a sorry lot covered in blood and cuts.
"Let her go Zel...she's gone" this admission came out as a choked sob.
"No! She'll be ok I just have to add a little more strength to my healing spell" god why wasn't he gaining any ground, he was using all the power he could and still nothing. Fine! He would just go a little farther and ...anything else he was thinking was consumed by darkness as he fell unconscious.
Gourry felt bad about knocking out Zel but he had been hysterical. Nothing he did would bring Lina Inverse back from the dead. He carefully pulled Lina's still form from the circle of Zel's arms and laid her gently on the ground where he carefully placed a cloak over her body.
None of them had expected this to ever happen...she was the strongest of them all. Hell he himself wasn't even sure what was truly happening. Lina had taken a walk insisting that she just wanted to grab a few items from the nearby shops. So he and the others had stayed at the INN patiently waiting for her return, when an hour went by and she hadn't returned they had begun to worry. Gourry raked a shaking hand through his hair, it had been a trap the whole town nothing but an illusion. Lina was already battling some kind of large monster. She had yelled for them to stay back but of course they hadn't listened, and in the beginning it had looked like they would win...but looks could be deceiving soon he, Zelgadis, Amelia, were laying on the ground. Lina had stood there shaking calling there names, he knew they must have looked a sight but he didn't have the strength to utter reassurances. Then it happened the creature made a move as if to finish the job and she stepped in his path. He watched as she began to mutter a incantation it was a new one something he never heard her use before...And that's were it went bad a clear bubble formed around the pair...then an explosion.
He turned with a start as he heard a whimper; it was Amelia her usual radiant expression blocked by the tears trekking down her pale cheeks. "I don't understand Mr. Gourry...why..."
He just shook his head he didn't have the answers right now.
