"Why did I agreed to go..." Everyone muttered. "How the hell did he talk us into this.." They've been ray wing/walking for almost an hour now. Lina, Amelia, Sylphiel, & Zelgadiss were 'ray wing' ing while Gourry, Zangulus, and Marchina were walking. Filia transformed into her dragon form and flew. Xelloss apparently teleported himself but he gave instructions to them to go through a forest then across a hanging bridge, then over a hill -
"Hmm... Speaking of teleportation ...." Lina cleared her throat. "CAN'T FILIA JUST TELEPORT US WHERE WE ARE GOING NOW!!" She shouted and almost burst everyone's drums.
(Ano... good point...)
Everyone smacked their foreheads as they muttered something. So the group who were flying just now flew down to meet the group who were walking just now. Filia huffily transformed back into a human and muttered something about the narrator ought to be more alert. A bright flash of sphere circled the group and a moment later they disappeared.
Meanwhile, Xelloss was waiting for them at his labyrinth.
"Not my labyrinth," He corrected. At that moment a flash of Sphere appeared and so does the group in it. A rather large group consists of 9 people. Lina, Gourry, Zelgadiss, Amelia, Filia, Zangulus, Sylphiel, and Marchina. They were huffing and puffing at each other until they saw the magnificent sight. The huge golden wall was crawling with green vines, on the golden wall there was several inscriptions and beautiful carvings. They looked at the sight in awe.
"Awww....." Chorused the group.
(I meant A - W - E)
"Woooow....." They chorused again.
"Ano... It's marvelous work..." Lina said her mouth wide open. Suddenly a silhouette figure appeared high in the sky. Two feet landed gracefully on the ground. He had his arms folded.
"Valgarv!" Everyone (who appeared in Try) exclaimed. He looked at Filia with his crimson eyes.
"Filia! What was so urgent?" He asked. Filia gave a huh? Look.
"I didn't call for you?"
"Then who - " His eyes darted to Xelloss. "Xelloss....."
"Yes... I did call you,"
"Damn you. You're going to get it you &@%$#@&^ Mazoku..." He said with his fist clenched. He was about to give Xelloss one of his red beams when Filia hold him back and said they should destroy Xelloss together after this finished. Valgarv agreed as he gave a menacing glare at a very suspicious Xelloss.
"So why are we here?" Zangulus asked.
"Simple. This is one of the.... nay... the toughest labyrinth in the world," Xelloss bowed.
"Just a labyrinth? For this you brought us here??" Marchina whined. "Not just any labyrinth," He took out a scroll and began reading it out loud. "This labyrinth was made by Kami sama to seal five creatures who is on his black list. As a punishment to them, he locked them in this labyrinth. Kami sama made it so that none of these creatures can ever escape,"
"So?" Lina huffed. "What's that - "
"Legends says that behind these labyrinth walls lies the treasures that the creatures stole and keep," Xelloss interrupted her. "Whoever defeats the creatures get to keep what was theirs,"
"Treasures...." Lina's yes glittered as her thoughts began to wonder around gold and cash.
"What are these five creatures?"
"One, kappa. The water imp. Second, oni. The orge. Third tengu. The long nosed goblin . Fourth, Jemini and Jemina, the twins magician and last, Cefor, who has a jagan, the evil eye." Xelloss rolled the scroll. "Any questions?"
"Why must we go in anyway?" Amelia raised up her hand. Xelloss grinned.
"I happen to know what makes you will want to go in...." He looked at them.
"I know I'll be going," Lina said. "Aren't you, Gourry?"
"Well... I don't know..." Gourry rubbed his chin.
"Aren't you Gourry!!" Lina raised her voice. She grabbed him and whispered, "There are treasures beyond our own imagination Gourry..."
"Hai..hai.." Gourry uttered.
"Of course I assume Zangulus would not be challenging Gourry on this one..." Xelloss sighed.
"Yes I am.. Anything he does, I can do better.." Zangulus stepped out.
"I don't know Zangulus.." Marchina twitched her mouth. "But I'm going for the treasures..." Plus... Lina can't go in there without me behind.
"And Zelgadiss... you must know that some says the jagan of a Cefor can cure any curses...." Xelloss trailed off. Zelgadiss's ears perked up at this. He had heard of that.
"Is that so....I've heard of that..." Zelgadiss started looking interested.
"And of course.. I personally think that a ryuzoku can't get through this so I'll just - "
"What do you mean a ryuzoku can't get through this!" Filia and Valgarv protested. Filia stormed over to Xelloss and held him by his collar.
"I'll have you know that I am in. And so is Valgarv. Us Ryuzoku can get through anything you mazoku can... and even better!!" She scolded. Valgarv just glared at Xelloss.
"Okay then if you insist..." Xelloss sighed. "What about you?" he looked at Amelia and Sylphiel.
"I guess we're in too," Both of them replied.
"Done..." Xelloss smiled. "I thought I should let you know that no one has ever passed through this labyrinth. Not even me,"
Everyone face faulted.
"Then this is a suicide mission!" Lina shouted waving her fist.
"It won't be a suicide if you don't fail...."
"Okay, look. There's the five paths," Xelloss pointed to the five dark, hollow paths. They were inside the first part of the labyrinth.
"Halt, who goes there?" said a voice. A hooded figure stepped out the darkness and into the light. "I am Akuma, guardian of this first gate of the labyrinth. No one goes in there unless in pairs,"
"Pairs???"
"Yes, pairs... it's the rules. More than two... one shall die while inside the labyrinth. No more no less. Two is just fine." He whispered in a deep voice.
"But..but.."
"Pick a ball," The figure said as he held out a big container. Everyone began shoving his or her hands inside praying for the right partner. "The same numbers goes,"
Lina held up a ball marked 1.
Gourry held up a ball marked 4.
Zelgadiss held up a ball marked 2.
Amelia held up a ball marked 5.
Xelloss held up a ball marked 3.
Filia held up a ball marked 4.
Zangulus held up a ball marked 1.
Marchina held up a ball marked 2.
Valgarv held up a ball marked 5.
Sylphiel held up a ball marked 3.
"NANI!!!" Everyone's eyes were wide open.
"Sorry, but you have to stick with the results..." He said in a firm voice.
"No way!"
"Look, do you want to get in or not?" The guard said impatiently. "If you can get through these different paths of the labyrinth, you'll meet each other at the end,"
Everyone gave their partner each weird looks and begun thinking. This sucks.
"Fine, I'm in," Lina replied after a moment of silence. "Even if I get Zangulus as my partner,"
"What do you mean by that?" Zangulus asked defensively. Lina shrugged.
"I don't agree with this....." Amelia said her face full of frowns.
"I'll say," Valgarv piped in.
"Same here...." Zelgadiss muttered. Marchina was looking at him in a way that makes him .... embarrassed...
"I don't mind much, though," Marchina grinned slightly. Zangulus banged his head on the walls. He had another opponent coming soon...
"Gourry.. to be my partner you'd better be bright.." Filia warned.
"Ano..." Gourry said.
"Although I much prefer Gourry sama.." Sylphiel sighed.
"So.... do we get in now?" Xelloss asked.
"Before that, each of the pairs take this," Akuma said as he threw each a scroll.
Everyone put it in... his or her belts.
"That is the information regarding this labyrinth.... but I guess Xelloss already told you that..." He said. "Then he must've told you that no one... none has ever been successful..."
"Arigatou.." Sylphiel thanked him but he had disappeared.
"What are we waiting for? Yosh! " Lina said as she and Zangulus ran into the first path.
"Come on Filia," Gourry grabbed her hands and they ran to path number two while Filia's screams slowly toned down.
"Amelia... right?" Valgarv asked her for confirmation. Amelia nodded. "Ikuze..." as they walked into the third path.
"By the Zoamel Gustav.. I can do this.." Marchina said determined. "But it's so scary...." Zelgadiss already went into path number four. "Hey! Wait! Zelgadiss!"
"Ano... Sylphiel.... Let's go," Xelloss said as he and Sylphiel went into the last path.
