Heart, return to the beginning
Light, earth, flowing air...
Firia sat quietly by the small pool of water, gazing down at her reflection while the soft grass tickled her feet. All was quiet and peaceful on the outside, a beautiful mirror of control and serenity. It was how it should be, how she should be. She was Ryuuzoku, after all. This is how it was done. But on the inside...
Those sad days will soon become fossils
And your pain will be secretly led to the forest of sleep
Good night, all of you overly enthusiastic children
Until impatience makes the evolving days into your dreams.
She was happy, wasn't she? She had everything she ever wanted. Her life was quiet now, no longer did she have to go running around with Lina Inverse's friends. Firia had little Valtiera to keep her days busy, as well as her pottery shop. She was a mother, and had her own business. She was doing what she'd always wanted, right?
Life is waiting for that dazzling morning
Even if the final penitence doesn't come true
Someday the dark era will break into dawn.
No. She wasn't happy. No matter how hard she tried to be happy, no matter how much she hid her feelings from the others, she couldn't achieve that happiness. Firia had to keep the facade of contentment up, for Val's sake and for her own sanity. If she didn't pretend, she felt she might go insane. Why wasn't she happy?
World, close your eyes
Life is awakening, spinning time itself
Like returning to your proof
And so, the light tells your heart
Heart, return to the beginning.
Firia peered into her reflection, studying it carefully. She touched her long golden hair, her smooth pale face. Things she'd so carefully kept beautiful and young. She had always fussed over her appearance, as well as the appearance of her household and all else in her life. To her, it was always essential to look the epitome of femininity. Not anymore. The little things didn't matter anymore. They were no longer important.
On the beach of tears you constantly stand
As though gently concealing your feelings, the secret medicine
Transporting them to the sea of memories
Good night - your fingers and ears dirtied by morality
Within your heart, let it sleep.
She was lonely. True, she had Val and her own friends, as well as the many suitors who pined after her, but she was still alone. Valtiera was just a child, and her friends would never understand. Her suitors were young and foolish; they thought they actually had a chance with her. They didn't know they could never replace him.
Him. Was he the cause of her pain? Firia tried to remember the last time she'd felt anything but lonely, the last time storms had brewed within her heart. It was when she was with him.
Life is waiting for that dazzling morning
Rather than holding on to your worn-out scriptures
Someday the dark era will break into dawn.
Dawn. Yeah, that would be nice. She'd always considered him the black streak in her day, like an ugly stain on a pristine tablecloth, but she now realized that he was more comparable to the single light in her darkness. He was the opposite race, her enemy. Or so she thought at the time.
You, cast away your prayers
Life is awakening, spinning time itself
Entrust yourself to the rule of nature
And so, the light tells your heart
Heart, return to the beginning.
Mazoku. Ryuuzoku. Mazoku. Ryuuzoku. The two races had been at war for as long as anyone could remember. There was an inbred hate between them. Could a Mazoku love a Ryuuzoku? Firia could only wish. She already knew a Ryuuzoku could love a Mazoku. It was abominable. If her friends discovered her feelings, they would be appalled and disgusted. They would probably recommend that she see a psychiatrist, and take Val away from her. So she kept all of it hidden from them.

She loved him. She loved that annoying, namagomi Mazoku. It hurt to admit it, to put it into words, even though she'd loved him for a rather long time. Firia wondered if he could feel the emptiness inside her, diminish her loneliness. Perhaps he could have, of she'd caught him when she had the chance. But he was gone now. He'd left a long time ago. And Firia would probably never see him again. She could not go chasing after him, no, she had responsibilities here with Val. And even if she could, would he have taken her back? Would he have returned her love? It was doubtful. She might never know the truth. Perhaps someday...
But for now, she had to keep her happy facade. For Val. For her friends. For herself. And most importantly, for him.
