He found the mazoku sitting in a tree across from him. Xellos had his usual close-eyed smile on his face and Zelgadiss scowled. "Why do you do that?"
"Do what?" Xellos responded, sounding genuinely confused.
"Smile all the time."
"Why do you never smile?"
"I do." He muttered. "Just never when you're around." Xellos' smile wavered just a fraction and Zelgadiss demanded, "So why?"
"Sore wa himitsu desu." Xellos answered predictably and Zelgadiss sighed.
"You could try answering a question every now and then." The chimera muttered and the mazoku's eyes opened as his grin turned just the slightest bit sinister.
"I'll tell you what Zel-chan. I'll answer your questions if you answer mine."
"Quid Pro Quo?"
"Exactly."
