The sun shone brightly in the sky overhead, the birds were singing and the breeze was gentle. All in all it was an ideal summer's day for everyone. Well, except for a young chimera named Zelgadiss who was being pestered by an annoying mazoku named Xellos.
"Don't you have anything better to do?" Zelgadiss snarled at the smiling mazoku.
"Nope, not really." Xellos replied, completely unoffended.
"No cities to destroy?"
"Nope."
"No dragons to hunt down?"
"Nope."
"No higher mazoku to spy on?" No sinister plots to get underway? No psychotic sorceresses to tail?"
"Nope, nope, and nope. Face it Zel-chan, I really have nothing else to do but spend the day with you."
"Damn." Zelgadiss scowled darkly, appearing for all the world like he wanted the mazoku as far away from him as possible. Really though, he was kinda glad that Xellos had nothing better to do. Despite himself he liked the company.
"So Zel-chan, find any good cures lately?"
Scratch that, he didn't like the company and he did want the mazoku gone. "Shut up."
"Not in the mood for pleasant conversation Zel-chan? That's okay, I'll forgive you."
Zelgadiss stopped walking. "YOU'LL forgive ME?" He said incredulously and Xellos ginned.
"But of course, I'm a very forgiving individual."
Zelgadiss stared at the mazoku and discovered that he was momentarily speechless. "I don't believe you." He sputtered once his voice returned.
"It's true." Xellos replied. "I really am."
The chimera stared at him for a few moments more, then shook his head as he started walking again. Xellos immediately fell into step beside him and continued talking as Zelgadiss ignored him. They proceeded in this manner until the skyline of a town appeared on the horizon.
