Now Lina wasn't one for impulsiveness...ok so maybe she was impulsive but whatever little voice told her to comfort Zel...probably hadn't meant kiss him! Although...it did feel kind of nice...
Suddenly as if burnt by something Zelgadis jumped backwards until he was pressed against the arm of the sofa. "What do you think your doing!" Zel was sputtering as he stared wide-eyed at the girl in front of him.
Lina arched a brow and grinned "What did it look like?"
Zel blushed and then tried to ruin the effect by frowning "Why did you do that..." Zel would have continued ...only the girl he was trying to talk to wasn't listening. She was over digging through his stuff. "Hey don't touch that!"
Lina grinned; well at least she got him off that topic. Twirling a golden candlestick in her hand she began to wonder if it was real gold and not the cheap imitation crap. But by the way Zel was looking at her made her think that maybe it was worth at least a little something.
"All this stuff is from my home...well when I had a home. And some of the other stuff I've managed to collect." Zel walked over and snatched the candleholder from her hand.
Lina merely grinned as she scanned he room for some more stuff to mess with. "Hey Zel this stuff looks really old, when did you say you were born again?"
"I can't really remember the exact date but I would say sometime in the late 1800's..."
"So you're an old lech? I see you should know better then taking advantage of a young beautiful girl such as myself!" grinning Lina turned back to what she was doing.
Zelgadis stared at the impertinent girl in front of him and let out a low growl. He couldn't believe he was actually beginning to like this ...this infuriating girl! Still she had kissed him...she knew that he was freak but she was treating him like any normal person you would meet on the road. Snap out of it! He was gonna have to think of something else there was no way he was growing soft towards that girl...Cant believe I tried to comfort her! What was I thinking! "Hey didn't I say don't touch anything!"
The girl had the impertinence to grin at him cheekily "No...you said don't touch the candle holder." She turned back around and began to rummage through one of his keepsake trunks. He was about to snap at her again, when he noticed her shoulder shaking slightly. "Lina..."
"Leave me alone, I'm just looking around no need to fret!" she gave a forced sounding giggling and continued to rummage. Zel was going to definitely hate himself for this as he quietly walked over to stand on the other side of the trunk. Gently he lowered the lid so that he could see her face; she kept her eyes on the now closed lid.
"No matter how hard I try to forget I cant...," this was said with such despair that Zel was surprised at the seriousness in the voice of one so young.
"That's because you try to force yourself...your mom wouldn't want you to be bitter like this..." Zel was hesitant about offering up advice, he didn't have much of a social life. Hell to be honest he had no social life!
She sniffled and looked at him with sad tired eyes "Do you think so...it's just seeing her like that laying in that bed...knowing that one day she wont be there anymore..."
"I've been in this cave so long that I have all the time in the world to think and sort out my emotions. I have learned to come to terms with what I am and the deaths of my family and friends..." Zel tried to smile reassuringly but he wasn't quite sure that it would help any.
Obviously it did because she looked at for several moments before scaring him to death by banging her hand loudly on the trunk. "Your right Zel! Mom wouldn't want me to be this way! Sorry about all the names I called you...and sorry for punching you...and you can have your golden candleholder back" this part was said sheepishly as she pulled the candleholder from her shirt.
"How in the world...nevermind I don't want to know!" Zel shook his head ruefully and bit back the laughter he could feel bubbling to the surface. Then a dismal thought came to mind... "How do you plan on getting out?"
"Oh no! I forgot there was no way out!" Lina began to go back into a stupor.
Rather then see her even more depressed he blurted out his secret...IDIOT! "There is a way...you see I can get us out it just that..."
Lina immediately pounced "I thought you said that you couldn't help me!"
"Will you let me finish, I cant help you because I have to switch forms...but erm...you see I don't like the other form so I wont." Zel knew it was a pure excuse but if she knew what was required for him to go out into the human world again she would scream and try to steak him.
"What other form! I don't understand..." Lina pursed her lips cutely as she tried to imagine him as a giant bug...or vegetable.
"No not that! Geesh I meant my vampire form, Rezo cursed me so that if I ever wanted to go to the surface I would have to switch forms..." Zel was repulsed by the whole idea, he would rather stay as a chimera.
"What's so bad about turning into a vampire!" Lina didn't understand why he didn't want to help her.
"Vampires drink blood! And I have only been in that body once, it thrives on blood! I can usually keep the hunger at bay but if we want to get out of here I need blood to work my magic! And if you look around...there are no blood donors!" There let her chew on that, he hated drinking blood anyway. That's what Rezo wanted of him to kill and feed on those weaker then himself ...but he wouldn't.
"Me! You can drink my blood but not all of it" Lina fixed him with a determined look. There was no way she was going to stay in this cave for the rest of her life. Glomping onto him her eyes became wide and shimmery as she began to whimper pathetically.
Zel could feel his resolve slipping...all he would have to do is drop her off and then he could come back to his cave... "Ok...Ok I'll do it..." he mumbled under his breath about pushy little girls and began to chant softly under his breath.
Lina had to close her eyes as a bright light erupted from Zelgadis's body. "Lina..." she looked up at the sound of the soft velvety voice of Zelgadis.
Lina hesitantly brought her hand up to trace a path along his jaw; it was soft smooth to the touch. Zelgadis's rockish body was gone to be replaced smooth pale skin, violet hair falling over his eye. His ears were still pointed like an elves...hehehe keebler elf!
"Is this going to hurt..." Lina for all her false bravado really didn't want blood sucked from her. He merely shook his head no and gently cupped her head and tilted it to the side.
"Too late to back out now Lina..." Zel murmured softly, as his tongue darted out and touched where her vain was throbbing. Lina gave off a yelp of surprise as she felt something sharp pierce her skin...this was definitely weird...but nice...moaning softly she leaned closer.
Zel could feel his control slipping as Lina leaned closer; he could feel the blood warming his body. It was delicious this sensation, he could feel her ...taste her...
Suddenly he stopped and pulled back, his breathing was slightly ragged as Lina slumped against him. Oh god had he killed her! Gently touching her neck he felt a pulse, he angrily berated himself for going overboard.
