This had to be the weirdest dream she had ever had. She was walking along a dark path, she knew there were others with her only she could not see them...Heck all she could see was the path in front of her. Suddenly as if hearing her thoughts the figure next to her became visible. She could only gap...that blue skin and wiry purple hair was a dead give away...
Oddly enough the picture faded to blackness and she had the strangest urge to sneeze. Waving a hand in front of her face to remove the offending object tickling her nose, her hand came in contact with something. Opening her eyes she noted that she wasn't totally covered by the blanket anymore. Zel was still curled up against her his hand moving a feather just a few inches away from her face. He chuckled at her angry look, and then his face sobered quickly.
"Tonight's the night Lina..." Zel's expression was serious as he gazed at her.
"Hmmm...tonight's the night...I don't understand" Lina was confused as she clutched at him tighter somehow feeling afraid for him.
"Tonight's the night that me and Rezo finish this..." Zel's face was one of grim determination.
"But why now! Surely he..." Lina was cut off by Zel's sharp look.
Zelgadis wasn't about to go into how he had seen Rezo by the window...no for Lina's own safety he had to make sure that Rezo was stopped once and for all.
Lina bit her lip, she wasn't sure that she wanted to reveal that she had ran into his grandfather earlier. "Fine Zel...you're right he must be stopped..." Zel threw her a grateful look. "So that's why I'm coming along to make sure that you succeed!"
Zel would have fell over if he weren't already on the floor. "Lina it's too dangerous..." He was cut off by the elbow to the gut...sometimes he missed his stone skin.
"So when do we start!" Lina cheerfully pulled herself from the floor and bounced over to her closet to find something suitable to wear.
Maybe if I sneak away while she's changing...
"Don't even think about it Zel!" Lina tossed a pair of black jeans at his head.
Damn there goes that idea...
Grabbing a sleeveless black shirt from the floor, tossing off her school top she tugged on the shirt. "Ano, Zel can you pass me my jeans?Zel...Hellloooo" Lina waved a hand experimentally in front of his face to get his attention.
Zel could feel the blush working it's way across his cheekbones, did this girl have any modesty. Wordlessly he tossed her the jeans, making sure to keep his gaze averted.
Pulling on the jeans lina placed some wrist guards, "So Zel got any plans?"
"Well...no"
Lina facefaulted then jumped up, "That's ok because I have a plan!"
Later...
Lina walked alone down the darkened sidewalk, a jacket pulled tight around her slender form. She couldn't help but wonder what had possessed her to come up with such a dumb idea. She was to be the bait to lure Rezo out of hiding, and then Zel and he would have one final confrontation. Whistling she let her gaze drift to the side as she congratulated herself on having the foresight to put her hair up in a ponytail. The wind was blowing hard, and she could feel the air seeping into her thin jacket.
A chill passed it's way down her spine and she knew without seeing that Rezo was somewhere nearby watching...Just like they had planned Lina turned cutting into the park.
She flinched as she heard that deep smooth voice calling her name. Picking up the speed she dashed down the pathway leading deep into the park.
"Going somewhere..." Lina ran into the solid form of Rezo. How he had been behind her... Rezo grabbed ahold of her wrist and smiled. Looks like I win this round...
"I don't think so Rezo! Let her go! We have some unfinished business..." Zel jumped down from his spot in the tree. He had changed back into his chimeric form and held a sword at ready.
Rezo chuckled softly, shoving Lina to the side he smirked. "Do you actually think you can beat me..."
"I won't know if I don't try..." he snarled and dashed forward slashing his sword downward in a deadly arc.
Rezo merely teleported off to the side, he was amused if the sword had struck it would have cleaved him in half. Maybe the kid had potential...
"Flare Arrow!" Zel used Rezo's momentary pause to get in a good shot. Rezo clutched his side looking for all the world as if he had never felt a thing such as pain. Zelgadis dashed forward, he had to finish of Rezo before he actually had time to attack. Dropping his fist to the ground he shouted the words to his attack "Ra Tilt!" the giant rock formation's rose from the ground taking with it and irritated looking Rezo.
Rezo looked down from his perch on top of the stone formation. Hmmm...his grandson had improved...improved a little too much mayhap. Oh well there was a way to fix that...
Zelgadis narrowed his eyes as Rezo flitted from view; he jerked in surprise as the man in question reappeared in front of him. Slamming a fist into his grandson's gut he held upright long enough for him to slam his head into a nearby tree. "So sorry Zelgadis...you know it is never too late for you to join me?"
Zelgadis spit out the blood that had begun to fill his mouth, the coppery taste making him sick to his stomach. "Never..." his voice was raspy and raw as he was once again slammed into the tree.
Lina watched on in horror Zel had been doing so well and now...and now he was getting the shit beat out of him to put it bluntly. She had to help him but how...tears welled up in her eyes as Rezo let Zel's for slip silently down to the ground. As if in a dream Lina felt words come to her lips,
Darkness Beyond Twilight
Crimson beyond blood that flows
Buried in the flow of time
By the powers that you and I possess
Dragon Slavu!
The wind whipped at her hair as she released the power from her outstretched arms. Lina dropped to her knees exhausted she didn't even have the energy to check and see if whatever she did had worked. Instead she let the darkness envelop her into its cold embrace...
